17:11: Oilers kill an early Adam Larsson elbowing minor. The Pens are 0-for-3 tonight.

SECOND PERIOD

00:00: That’s the end of the second period. Shots are 26-22 for the Penguins. | EDM 0, PIT 0

00:30: Talbot makes a save, loses the puck for a moment but recovers to cover.

02:38: Oilers PP can’t convert. Even strength.

04:38: McDavid gets tripped up. Oilers head to the power play this time.

05:36: 3-on-1 shorthanded but Klefbom’s slap shot is stopped.

07:30: A hooking penalty is called on Benning. Edmonton heads to the PK again.

09:16: Another big chance with Maroon as the trailing guy, trying to finish on a Nugent-Hopkins rebound but no dice.

09:53: Again! The Oilers are right there in front but somehow the puck stays out. McDavid with a great pass on the entry and then Maroon is in front but can’t get the puck past a Pens player laying down in the crease.

11:32: No idea how the Oilers did not score with the chances they had around the net. Lucic on the doorstep can’t bury, then Edmonton keeps hammering away. Letestu is denied by an incredible stick save by Murray. Still scoreless.

12:02: Hornqvist elbows Russell to the face. Russell has to skate off. Edmonton gets a power play.

12:24: The Oilers with a scramble and flurry in front of Murray but they can’t bury.

13:50: Talbot denies Crosby. The Oilers goaltender is locking it down so far.

15:09: Murray flashes the glove on Nurse.

15:58: Cam Talbot with a MASSIVE save on a 2-on-1. Kessel bobbles the puck but Talbot sticks his pad out to stop it.

17:04: Larsson crosses the blueline and fires a shot on net. Rebound comes out but no Oiler can get to it.

17:25: Oilers turn it over in the defensive zone but Nurse blocks a shot into the stands.

20:00: The second period is underway.

FIRST PERIOD

00:00: That’s it for the first with Edmonton being outshot 15-8 but it’s scoreless here in Pittsburgh. | EDM 0, PIT 0

02:21: Oilers manage to kill off the power play. Back to even strength.

04:21: Bryan Rust goes into the boards and is shaken up. Rust comes off just fine and doesn’t leave the bench. Auvitu gets called for a trip. Edmonton on the penalty kill for the first time tonight.

07:34: So far, McDavid is the only Oilers forward with a shot. The rest have come from the defence. Oilers forwards have had looks but haven’t been able to get shots on net.

07:51: Draisaitl sets up Benning for a one-timer but Murray makes the save.

09:22: McDavid with another brilliant play, gets behind the Pens, drives to the net but just can’t finish.

10:37: Talbot is locked in so far. A few big saves on that last shift as the Penguins take a 9-3 lead in shots.

12:57: This one is still scoreless with the Penguins leading in shots 4-2.

13:36: Yamamoto misses a glorious chance for his first NHL goal from the side of the net.

14:41: Darnell Nurse and Ryan Reaves drop the gloves!

15:30: Milan Lucic with a hit behind the Penguins net.

18:06: Fast start to this one. Both teams skating up and down the ice. The Caggiula/Draisaitl/Letestu line just had a scoring chance.
