2:43: Oilers kill off the Kassian minor and then get a man advantage of their own after Bobby Ryan heads off for hooking.

5:59: Kassian heads to the bin, giving Ottawa a power play.

7:20: After a scoring chance by Maroon at the side of the net, there’s a lot of pushing and shoving between the two sides behind the Senators net.

8:40: Shots are 24-17 for the Oilers.

12:39: Turris gets called for tripping, sending Edmonton back on the power play.

15:00: Shots are now 17-13 for the Oilers; 15-3 since late in the second but Ottawa continues to hold on to that three-goal lead with their most recent goal coming on one of those three shots.

16:24: Ottawa extends its lead to 3-0 after Hoffman’s second of the game. After taking a feed from Turris at the right circle, he wired a shot glove side past Talbot for the goal. | OTT 3, EDM 0

33.7: Zack Kassian had a breakaway in the final minute and was hacked by Borowiecki. Kassian slid into the Ottawa net and was shaken up on the play but good news is the Oilers received a two-minute power play.

1:50: Oilers get some sustained momentum as McDavid’s line has several chances. Yamamoto is denied at the doorstep by Sens netminder Mike Condon on three consecutive attempts. Shots are now 11-6 with five shots in the sequence.

10:29: Derick Brassard completes a tic-tac-toe play, wiring a one-timer from the right faceoff circle to double the Ottawa lead to 2-0 with a power play marker. | OTT 2, EDM 0

12:13: Zack Kassian took two minutes for hooking — or, rather, lightly grazing the Sens player with his stick behind the Ottawa net. Regardless, the result was the first Senators power play of the game.
