6:48: McDavid again sped full speed down the left wing this time and very nearly netted a natural hat trick but the Flames defender did a good job limiting his scoring chance to a quick wrister from in close that Smith stopped.

8:56: Shots in the period are 12-4 for the Oilers; 41-25 overall in the game.

11:53: McDavid used his speed to race down the right wing side past the Flames defenders before firing the puck short side on Smith to double the Oilers lead. | EDM 2, CGY 0

13:37: McDavid’s shot from the left circle was denied on a partial breakaway but the Oilers retained possession and it resulted in a hooking penalty to Dougie Hamilton and ensuing Oilers man advantage.
