THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Game over, Oilers win! Final shot count 28-25 for the Flames Rookies.

2:55: Shots on goal are even at 25 apiece with less than three minutes to play.

7:47: Foo gets a two-minute minor for tripping.

10:12: The Flames crash Wells’ crease but he shuts the door. Oilers still up 4-2 at the midway mark of the third.

16:31: AND AGAIN! Maksimov releases a quick rip that beats Parsons. Oilers now with all the momentum as they score three quick ones to open the third period. Assists go to Butcher and Koch. EDM 4, CGY 2

17:23 OILERS TAKE THE LEAD! Polei tips in a Mantha point shot as the Oilers go up for the first time tonight. Mantha and Jones with the helpers. EDM 3, CGY 2

18:36: BUTCHER TWO TIMES! Maksimov makes a great heads-up pass just before taking a hit that sent Butcher away all alone on Parsons. Butcher then went shelf to tie things up at two. EDM 2, CGY 2

20:00: The third period has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

00.00: Flames take a late lead with Jankowski’s goal. The game remains tight, however. Shots are 17-16.

1:21: Jankowski breaks the tie with a wrist shot that goes top left side on Wells. Flames take the lead. CGY 2, EDM 1

2:52: Oilers fail to capitalize on the man-advantage.

5:28: Andersson hooks Maksimov after he nearly breaks past the defender. Oilers get another crack on the power play.

6:38: Phillips tries to move right-left across the Oilers crease but Wells stretches out his left pad to get a toe on it. Still 1-1 with the shots being 16-13 in favour of Calgary.

8:20: Wells is tested again, this time by a Rasmus Andersson wrist shot from the point which he gloves.

10:35: Wells remains sharp, stifling a snapper from his right side on behalf of Adam Ruzicka.

13:13: Austin Glover lays out the body and gets called for cross-checking. Evan Polei and Zach Fischer each get coincidental roughing penalties after a scrum ensued.

13:48: THE ROOKIES ARE ON THE BOARD! Chad Butcher picks up a loose puck to the right of Parsons and tucks it under the bar on the power play to even things up at 1. Davis Koch and Mantha get the assists. EDM 1, CGY 1

14:53 Oilers back to the power play as Josh Healey goes to the box for hooking.

17:27: Juuso Valimaki beats Wells blocker side with a wrist shot. Flames open the scoring. CGY 1, EDM O

18:16: Ziyat Paigin releases a floater from the blueline that Parsons snares.

20:00: The second frame is under way.

FIRST PERIOD

00.00: The first period draws to a conclusion with the score 0-0. The Flames lead in shots 11-8 and both teams are 0-for-2 on the power play.

27.3: Wells makes an in-tight save on Matthew Phillips to keep the game scoreless.

2:58: Oilers off to the penalty kill once again as Maksimov is called for tripping.

3:58: Flames get close to striking as Jankowski’s wrist shot from the right side goes post and out. Still scoreless. The Oilers lead the shot department 8-7.

6:33: A Ryan Mantha bomb is robbed by Tyler Parsons, who later stymies William Lagesson’s wrister from the point. Kailer Yamamoto then barrels down on Parsons and threads one through the crease to no avail. Kirill Maksimov gets a penalty for tripping.

11:46: Oilers rookies generate a few quality scoring attempts from point shots on the man-advantage but don’t bury. Dylan Wells later makes a beautiful save off a one-timer. Calgary takes their second penalty as Spencer Foo goes to the box for hooking.

17:23: Rasmus Andersson is off to the box for holding. Oilers go to the power play.

20:00: Mark Jankowski wins the opening draw against Joe Gambardella and the game has begun.
