THIRD PERIOD

0:0: The Oilers win their final game of the regular season 5-2 against the Canucks, ending the 2016-17 campaign with a 47-26-9 record. Next up is the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

3:11: Shots are 42-16 Edmonton.

10:31: Hutton off to the sin bin for slashing.

13:06: Oilers looking to close out their final period of the regular season strong. They have two goals in just under seven minutes and a 9-3 third period shots lead.

17:25: Vancouver get one back off a slap shot from Tryamkin. | EDM 5, VAN 2

18:10: MCDAVID GETS 100! McDavid breaks up a Vancouver pass in the Oilers zone, then turns up ice with Caggiula and Draisaitl flanking him. He dishes to Draisaitl who squeaks his 29th of the season under Bachman. The Oilers captain now has 30 goals and 70 assists and becomes the first Oilers player to register 100 points in a campaign since Doug Weight did so in 1995-96. | EDM 5, VAN 1

 

19:29: EBS WITH THE HATTY! After sliding through two defenders along the boards, Lucic moved the puck to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins in the slot who made a backhand-o-rama pass to Eberle on the doorstep for his 20th of the season. | EDM 4, VAN 1

 

20:00: The final frame has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

0:0: Oilers up 3-1 heading into the final period of the regular season. They lead in the shot department 26-10.

4:35: Hutton called for holding Kassian after the Oilers winger barrelled in on a breakaway. Edmonton to the power play.

5:14: THE DRAKE! Drake Caggiula nets his seventh of the season off a gorgeous backhand pass from McDavid as they approached on a 2-on-1. McDavid now just a point away from 100 on the season. | EDM 3, VAN 1

 

5:55: After the penalty ended, Matt Hendricks and Zack Kassian set up below the Canucks’ goal line. Hendricks waited patiently for Anton Slepyshev to get into position and just as he did, dished it on his plate for a tap-in goal. The Canucks challenged the play, however, with the referees later ruling it offside. Still 2-1 Edmonton as they lead the shot clock 19-10.

8:26: McDavid is sprung in all alone and gets a weak backhander off as he’s tripped from behind by Christopher Tanev. The Canucks defenceman is called for tripping.

11:00: Jayson Megna gets a breakaway and is slashed by Matt Benning. Benning gets two minutes for slashing.

15:50: SNIPE CITY! Eberle gets gifted the puck in the Canucks’ slot and as he’s falling down, snipes a wrist shot glove side on Bachman. That’s his second of the game, 19th of the season and 50th point. | EDM 2, VAN 1

15:57: Milan Lucic muscles his way to the net and gets off a backhander that Bachman snares.

18:00: Nikolay Goldobin converts on a backhand saucer pass from Daniel Sedin. Canucks tie it up. | EDM 1, VAN 1

 

20:00: The second period has begun.

FIRST PERIOD

0:0: Oilers open the scoring late after Eberle’s power play marker. Edmonton also leads on the shot clock 14-6.

1:14: AND THEY GET ONE TO GO! Jordan Eberle hangs around the Oilers perimeter, waiting to make a cross-ice feed. His pass gets deflected by Luca Sbisa and goes far side on Bachman. That’s his 18th of the season and 49th point. Draisaitl and Oscar Klefbom get the assists. | EDM 1, VAN 0

 

2:41: Alexander Edler joins Tryamkin in the box with a slashing penalty. 5-on-3 for Edmonton.

2:51: McDavid catches a bounce at the Oilers blueline, breaking away on Richard Bachman. He pulls the puck between his legs, then attempts to flip it over Bachman but the Canucks netminder makes the save. Nikita Tryamkin then gets two minutes for roughing.

6:07: Drake Caggiula, Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid manufacture a threatening shift and nearly open the scoring. Draisaitl just missed a pass from McDavid in tight near the Canucks’ net.

9:28: Michael Chaput collides with Eric Gryba at the Canucks’ blueline and falls, then Ben Hutton steps in to defend his teammate. Gryba and Hutton drop the gloves and each receives five minutes for fighting.

11:18: Shots are all tied up nearing the halfway mark of the first period. Four shots on goal for both teams.

15:44: Reid Boucher skates in all alone, splits the legs of Laurent Brossoit going from left to right but then hits the post. Oilers lead the shot clock 3-2.

20:00: The final game of the regular season has begun.
