1:00: Maroon is fed the puck by McDavid but narrowly misses the Canucks empty net.

2:00: Shots on goal are 35-29 Oilers with two minutes to play.

10:40: Lucic burst out of the penalty box and outmuscled Troy Stecher. Lucic spun and fired a shot on goal, clipping Stecher with his stick in the process. Miller made the initial save but Pakarinen swooped in and scored on the rebound. | EDM 3, VAN 1

12:50: The Canucks jam at the puck during a mad scramble in the crease. Shots on goal in the period were 7-3 Oilers seven minutes in. During the scramble, Milan Lucic got nailed for a cross-checking penalty, giving the Canucks the power play.

16:56: Near the end of the Boucher penalty, a feed by Connor McDavid was neatly redirected in front by Mark Letestu past Miller for his 11th power play goal of the season. | EDM 2, VAN 1

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: After 40 minutes, the game was even at 1-1 with Edmonton outshooting Vancouver 23-22.

31.6: Reid Boucher received a double minor for high sticking Mark Letestu, sending the Oilers to the power play for the first time on the night.

3:24: Brock Boeser received a nice no-look pass from Henrik Sedin and made no mistake, rifling it into the open side of the net to even the game at 1-1. | EDM 1, VAN 1

4:54: Iiro Pakarinen received two minutes for interference to send the Canucks on their second power play of the game.

6:48: Eberle’s one-timer from the circle was snagged on a very nice glove save by Miller. Shots on goal with 6:48 to go in the second were 19-15 for the Oilers.

11:55: Talbot made a nice kick save off an in-close chance by Megna to keep the Oilers up by one. Shots on goal were 15-13 Vancouver eight minutes into the second.

14:56: Horvat and Nurse dropped the gloves in a spirited bout after Horvat hit Nurse into the end boards in the Edmonton zone. Nurse received two minutes for roughing on the altercation in addition to the coincidental fighting majors.

18:59: Only 1:01 into the middle frame, the Oilers struck for the game’s first goal. Jordan Eberle took a feed from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, skated to the left circle and rifled it past Ryan Miller. | EDM 1, VAN 0

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Shots after one period were 11-9 for the Canucks.

23.4: In the final minute of the opening period, Ben Hutton got in behind the Oilers defence and corralled a pass before trying to deke on Talbot but the Oilers netminder kicked out his right pad to make the save.

3:00: Vancouver had the best scoring chance in the opening frame. Jayson Megna had the puck down low and wired it off the post behind Talbot.

8:30: Shots on goal are even at 6-6 as the Oilers fans in the building drown out Canucks fans with “Let’s Go Oilers!” chants.

11:57: Zack Kassian got in behind the Canucks defence and skated in on a partial breakaway but just missed the net on his scoring attempt as he was impeded from behind by a Vancouver defender.

15:28: Almost five minutes into the game, shots on goal were 3-2 for Edmonton.

20:00: Tonight’s game is now underway.
