THIRD PERIOD

0.0: OILERS WIN! With eight points between them, ‘le duo dynamique’ of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl lead the Oilers to a 5-3 victory over Les Habitants to start this homestand off right. Let’s continue this momentum into Monday against the Washington Capitals.

1:40: Timeout Montreal with an o-zone draw. They’ll pull Allen to go 6-on-4, down two goals.

5:20: CHEAT CODE CONNOR!!! He takes a breakaway feed from Draisaitl, takes off with speed, goes backhand-forehand with his dangle to take Allen out of it and puts his second of the game and 21st goal of the season up top. Two-goal lead! | EDM 5, MTL 3

7:54: With just under eight to play, Oilers lead 4-3 but trail in shots 29-21.

14:59: Habs strike the crossbar!

16:23: Hyman still chasing goal and has a partial 2-on-1 stopped before his rebound is corralled by Allen.

SECOND PERIOD

4.2: DARNELL AT THE DEATH!!! Hyman with a takeaway, Draisaitl with the pass, and Nurse with the tuck past Allen. The celebration, however, left a lot to be desired as Nurse hits the deck after running into the glass. But it’s a late Oilers lead in the second nonetheless! | EDM 4, MTL 3

3:22: Xhekaj scores left side from up top with a wrist shot. The sad thing is there was 0:01 left on McDavid’s penalty, so Montreal stays on the man advantage. | EDM 3, MTL 3

3:32: Clearance from Darnell Nurse goes right out of play. A revenge 5-on-3 opportunity for Montreal coming up for 11 seconds.

5:21: Oilers to the penalty kill now as McDavid marches off for hooking — his second minor penalty of the night so far. But ultimately, it saved a goal as a Hab was about to tuck their deke past Skinner.

11:05: lol you can’t do that. Suzuki throws the puck out of the zone after fully grasping it, much to the displeasure of the Montreal fans in attendance. Back to the 5-on-3 we go for 1:25.

13:33: DRAI UP HIGH!!! It’s a career-matching five-game goal streak for the German, who buries ANOTHER one-timer from his usual location. Still 3:52 of PP time for Edmonton. | EDM 2, MTL 1

14:40:  Edmundson with a rough cross-check to Hyman’s head. We’re heading to an extended 5-on-3, with the defender earning five minutes and a misconduct for his actions. Hopes are with Hyman that he’s okay.

14:52: Kirby Dach holds up McDavid so he doesn’t get through on a breakaway. Can’t blame ’em, but it’s two minutes and a PP for Edmonton.

50.3: Arber Xhekaj breaks it out but he throws a hook on McDavid behind the play. PP to the Oilers!
