THIRD PERIOD

1:16: BOUR-GOAL! Xavier Bourgault into the empty net makes it 5-2.

4:09: Philp goes off for hooking and the Canucks pull their netminder for the 6-on-4.

8:22: DUBINSKY!!! SWEET DANGLE!!! The camp invite goes forehand-to-backhand around a Canucks d-man and nestles a backhand top sshelf. Philip Broberg picks up the helper. A couple of nice ones in this game for Edmonton. | EDM 4, VAN 2

13:34: WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! A point shot from Max Wanner strikes a body and just bloops over Silovs. A fortunate go-ahead goal for the Oilers. | EDM 3, VAN 2

16:53: Karlsson’s goal-line shot sneaks past Rodrigue on the short side for his second of the game. Tie game. | EDM 2, VAN 2

17:58: Two members of both the Canucks and Oilers are in the box for coincidental calls and a spirited fight.

20:00: The final frame is UNDERWAY!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: We’re through 40 minutes and the Oilers lead the Canucks 2-1. Vancouver definitely had the majority of pressure that period, sending 16 shots onto Fanti and Rodrigue.

3:00: Noah Dorey takes a hooking call on a partial Canucks breakaway. Plenty of action in this last half of the middle frame.

3:53: The Canucks think they tie it on a 3-on-1 but the referee waves it off.

4:38: At the end of a strong Canucks shift, Linus Karlsson gets the hosts on the board by sliding one through Rodrigue’s five-hole in front. | EDM 2, VAN 1

6:50: WHAT A GOAL!!! DYLAN HOLLOWAY SHORTHANDED!!! Is this guy good or what? The forwards cuts into the middle on his backhand against a Canucks d-man and slides it five-hole. The assist goes to Hamblin, and the pair remains tied for the tournament lead in scoring. | EDM 2, VAN 0

7:09: High-sticking call goes against the Oilers and Matvey Petrov.

10:04: Goalie swap! Olivier Rodrigue is in goal now for the Oilers for the last half of this game, replacing Fanti who was terrific with 16 stops.

11:22: SCHAEFER FIRES AND SCORES!!! The Oilers first-round pick from this year’s NHL Draft gets on the board for the first time in Penticton with a wicked wrister. Silovs couldn’t even drop to the butterfly before it was in the back of the net. Michael Kesselring picks up the lone helper. | EDM 1, VAN 0

Finally we have a breakthrough in this final contest of the Young Stars Classic! | EDM 1, VAN 0

14:15: Klimovich is called for hooking, sending the Oilers Rookies to a 4-on-3 opportunity.

14:23: Hey now. Shepard sends a stick into Fanti after the netminder made a stop on a 2-on-1 and the Oilers take exception. Gotta back up your goaltender. Chiasson is in the box with Shepard after the fog of the scrum lifts, but Fanti is performing well and has been Edmonton’s best player so far.

15:36: Hamblin gets loose on a partial break and receives some pressure, but sends a backhand over the net.

17:25: Holloway with a slick set-up to Xavier Bourgault, who dangles in the phone booth of the slot and forces Canucks netminder Arturs Silovs into a save. Off a scrum in front, Jett Woo and Holloway are given a roughing calls.

20:00: The second period restarts with the Oilers left to kill 1:48 of Chiasson’s hooking penalty.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: A chaotic period with plenty of hits, chances and shots with no goals. Canucks outshoot the Oilers 10-8 as we head into the intermission. Vancouver will have 1:48 of PP time to work with on the other side.

12.4: Late hooking call to Jake Chiasson in this first period.

9:55: Tristen Neilsen puts a crosscheck onto Michael Kesselring and the back referee calls it. The first powerplay of the day goes to Edmonton!

10:47: FANTI ON FIRE!!! Danila Klimovich gets sprung on a breakaway and the former University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldog gets his glove to the shot. Guy is playing lights out early in this one.

13:27: Fanti stones Cole Shepard on a partial break! Two big saves early for Fanti.

19:31: OFF THE POST!!! Dylan Holloway rings an early backhand off the post less than half a minute in. James Hamblin almost got to the rebound.

20:00: GAME ON!!!

20:00: There’s no medal round at the Young Stars Classic, but Monday afternoon’s concluding contest between the Oilers Rookies and the host Canucks Rookies is as close as we’re going to get. Both the Oilers and Canucks are a perfect 2-0 in Penticton this weekend and only one will be able to head back to their respective cities ahead of main camps being able to say their Young Stars shined the brightest in the Okanagan. Puck drop at half past three here at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

20:00: Teams are out on the ice for warm-ups.
