OVERTIME

18:41: Artturi Lehkonen deflects a point shot off the faceoff, collects the rebound and puts it home. Season over.

The Edmonton Oilers are eliminated in four games by the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final, but what a season it was. This team went from out of a playoff spot when Jay Woodcroft took over behind the bench in February to this point in the final four of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, beating the Los Angeles Kings in seven before defeating the Calgary Flames in five for a series victory that will live long in the memories of Oilers fans along the way. Incredible run, incredible team.

Congratulations to the Colorado Avalanche, who’ll contest the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001 against the Tampa Bay Lightning or New York Rangers.

We’ll see you next season, Oil Country, and we thank you.

20:00: HERE WE GO! SEASON ON THE LINE IN NEED OF A GOAL!

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Seems fitting for an insane game of hockey and third period we’ve seen here at Rogers Place. Edmonton will have to keep their season alive in overtime.

3:22: ZACK KASSIAN CLEANS IT UP!!! TIE GAME!!! McDavid feeds Draisaitl for the one-time and it trickles through Francouz for Kassian to tap in for his second of the post-season! COME ON!!! | EDM 5, COL 5

5:13: Rantanen scores five-hole. It’s an Avalanche lead via the powerplay. | COL 5, EDM 4

5:54: Derek Ryan is given a holding penalty on Mikko Rantanen after the Colorado forward cut him off in the offensive zone.

6:30: MacKinnon with speed in transition rips it past Smith short side. All tied. | EDM 4, COL 4

8:58: Nathan MacKinnon gets the knee inside on Hyman and brings him down for a trip in the neutral zone. If Edmonton can get one on the PP here, it would be big.

11:02: Puck is put in by Landeskog. Looked like there might’ve been a push into the net but it was loose in front after Nurse cleared it from behind Smith. It’s a one-goal game again. | EDM 4, COL 3

16:05: ZACHARY MARTIN HYMAN!!! Gets it RIGHT BACK for Edmonton! On a partial 4-on-2, Draisaitl feeds Hyman for a one-timer that the forward doesn’t get all of, but he gets enough to put it over the sliding Francouz. Draisaitl’s helper is his third of the hockey game, and McDavid has an assist to go along with his goal now.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: What a period as the Rogers Place crowd cheers as time expires in the second. Edmonton leads Colorado 2-1 through 40 minutes.

1:06: CAN’T STOP CONNOR!!! WHAT A SEEING EYE SHOT TO THE FAR POST ON THE POWERPLAY! And what a stretch here by the Oilers in the last five minutes of the middle frame to take control here of Game 4 before the intermission. | EDM 3, COL 1

9:54: Nil for Edmonton on that powerplay or so far tonight, currently 0-for-3.

11:54: Kassian gets held by Landeskog and goes head first into the boards. The Colorado captain comes off worse for wear and with the penalty.

12:21: HYMAN!!! A quick full-ice feed from Darnell Nurse found Leon Draisaitl at the far blueline, where he sent it across to Hyman to come in 1-on-1 with Pavel Francouz and go forehand-to-backhand to tie the game! Rogers Place erupts! | EDM 1, COL 1

20:00: The second period is ON!!!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After 20 minutes the Avalanche lead by a goal and 14-12 in shots.

4:00: The Oilers are gonna get another look on the PP here before the break, with Hyman getting tripped by Johnson.

7:41: Some great looks on that man advantage but no goal to show for it.

9:41: HOLDING THE STICK! Edmonton heads to their first man advantage!

16:14: Failed clearance from the Oilers leads to Cale Makar sniping the go-ahead goal from the point. Early hole. | COL 1, EDM 0

17:07: First powerplay goes to the Avalanche with Kassian in the box for slashing Johnson.

17:50: Puck nearly gets put into Colorado’s own net! Would’ve been fortunate after a couple gifts for the Avalanche in Game 3.

20:00: Puck is down and game on!!! Need a W to stay alive. Let’s go!

Looks like the kid is in. Holloway was picked 14th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by Edmonton and looks set to slot in for his NHL debut alongside RNH and Hyman in an elimination game of the Western Conference Final. What a way to make your debut!
