THIRD PERIOD

0:00: Game over in Columbus. Oilers fall 5-2 to the Blue Jackets on the first game of a two-game road trip. The Oilers will head to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins on Tuesday.

0:47: Empty netter for the Jackets. Cole Sillinger gets the gift from Bjorkstrand. 

3:15: Jack Roslovic scores. Oilers were pressing for the tying goal, leaving Jakub Voracek to counter on the 2-on-1. The veteran found Roslovic with the cross-crease pass which he quickly snaps past a sliding Koskinen for the insurance marker. 

4:51: Oilers pressing for the tying goal. The McDavid line has a good shift in the Blue Jackets zone, but are once again unable to get the puck past Merzlikins. Oilers with 33 shots with under five minutes to go.

10:46: Goal Blue Jackets. Blankenburg on the powerplay. The rookie wrists an absolute rocket from the point through a screen to pick up his first NHL goal. 

14:33: Ryan McLeod is able to use his speed, bursting through the Columbus defence before rifling backhand just over Merzlikins’ crossbar.

18:24: Goal Blue Jackets. Koskinen is able to turn aside the Sillinger shot, but the rebound finds its way to Oliver Bjorkstrand who backhands the puck into the net for his 25th goal of the season. Tie game. 

20:00: Puck dropped! Just 20 minutes to go in Columbus!

SECOND PERIOD

0:00: Strong period for the Oilers! Leon Draisaitl gets the only goal as Edmonton outshoots Columbus 14-8 in the frame.

2:10: INCREDIBLE SAVE BY KOSKINEN!! Koski flashes the glove on the point-blank shot by Emil Bemstrom! The Oilers keeper comes up big on the PK, with a little help from the crossbar to keep the score 2-1 Edmonton!

4:11: Oilers now heading to the penalty kill. Nuge is whistled for tripping Yegor Chinakhov.

8:44: The top line pouring on the pressure! Kane with a shot stopped by Merzlikins, plus a chance from Russell pinching in from the point that is just backhanded wide! Oilers outshooting Columbus 19-17.

14:30: LEON, LEON, LEON!!! The German nets his 55th goal and his 24th on the powerplay with his patented one-timer! McDavid with the seeing eye, cross rink pass to find Drai for the goal!

20:00: The action is back underway in Columbus! The second period is a go.

FIRST PERIOD

0:00: Twenty minutes in the books. Goals from Kane and Robinson have the game tied at one apiece at Nationwide Arena.

4:02: Blue Jackets goal. The puck ping pongs around in front of Koskinen and is backhanded in by the hard-charging Eric Robinson. 

6:45: SO CLOSE!! McDavid finds Yamamoto cross-crease on the break but is absolutely robbed by Merzlikins!

13:41: Oilers to the powerplay! Eric Robinson is whistled for cross-checking after checking Yamamoto behind the play.

15:25: BIG SAVE BY KOSKINEN! Jakub Voracek weaves his way down the right-wing and rips a low shot which is kicked aside by the Oilers goaltender.

16:52: OILERS GOAL!! EVANDER KANE STAY HOT! McDavid drops for Kane on the 3-on-2 and the winger roofs it on Merzlikins! That is a career-high 117 points for Connor!

20:00: GAME ON IN COLUMBUS!!!
