THIRD PERIOD

0.0: YESSSSSSSS! 4-3 IS YOUR FINAL!!! The Oilers hold off the late Panthers prowl to beat the leaders of the Atlantic and hand them their third-straight loss on home ice! Mikko Koskinen was terrific making 44 saves, with Derek Ryan getting his first-career hat-trick and the game-winner as Edmonton takes the first leg of the matinee back-to-back in Sunrise. We’re back in action Sunday afternoon in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes.

2:39: Timeout Panthers. Moments before, Kane just barely missed the open net from the Oilers zone, but it went for icing.

4:09: Barkov’s second of the game on the 6-on-4 makes it a one-goal difference. Going to be a testy finish. | EDM 4, FLA 3

4:15: Florida will go 6-on-4 after Nurse tripped up Huberdeau in the corner.

4:22: MIKK-NO!!! Barkov can’t believe it as the Oilers netminder makes an unbelievable glove save.

4:33: Panthers pull their goalie in search of two goals to tie it.

7:00: With seven minutes left, the Oilers are doubling up the Panthers 4-2 despite being doubled up on shots 42-21.

13:02: Lomberg gets cross-checked from behind by Kane. Panthers heading to the PP.

16:25: KOLMEN METRIN!!! The Finn uses his full extension to rob Vatrano in the slot and continue his stellar afternoon in Sunrise. He’s made 36 saves on 38 shots so far.

20:00: The third period is UNDERWAY!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The Oilers score three in the second period to lead 4-2 through 40 minutes thanks to Ryan’s hat-trick. Koskinen is playing monstrous in the blue crease for the Blue & Orange.

43.7: THE SUN RYSES!!! DEREK RYAN FIRST-CAREER HAT-TRICK!!! After Mikko Koskinen made a massive save on Mason Marchment on a 2-on-1 at the other end, Edmonton counters with speed and Evander Kane finds the veteran at the back door for the tap-in trick. How’s that for a performance and a two-goal lead heading into the break? | EDM 4, FLA 2

4:37: Draisaitl has to trip Lundell to prevent the Florida forward from going in alone on a breakaway. Professional, but a penalty nonetheless.

9:56: DRAI-SIGHT-ALL!!! Radko Gudas goes down to block the shot from Leon at his typical right-circle spot, but he inadvertently deflects the German’s snap shot into the net to flip the script on this game and give Draisaitl his 36th goal of the season. He’s tied for the League lead with Auston Matthews. Edmonton now has the lead with just under 10 minutes left in the second period. | EDM 3, FLA 2

11:00: MacKenzie Weegar had to interfere with Hyman to stop the Oilers forward from getting to the dump-in first. That’s worth two minutes. Another Oilers PP coming up!

12:31: DER-ELITE!!! Derek Ryan ties this game with a seeing-eye snipe and his second of the game into the top-right corner over Bobrovsky’s shoulder with a delayed penalty on the way. Shots are 27-11 Panthers, but we are all square here just past the halfway mark of this game. Markus Niemelainen picks up the assists for his first career NHL point. | EDM 2, FLA 2

13:52: MI-POKE-O!!! The big Finn denies his fellow countryman Barkov on a breakaway by stretching out and using his big paddle.

15:21: Carter Verhaeghe gets around Connor McDavid and the captain takes a tripping penalty.

17:02: Despite being down a man, Florida had the upper hand over Edmonton on that Oilers powerplay, including Barkov hitting the post on a 2-on-1.

19:02: Too Many Men for the Panthers! Edmonton heads to its first powerplay.

20:00: The second period at FLA Live Arena has begun.

20:00: This just in – Nugent-Hopkins will not return to today’s game with an upper-body injury.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: AT THE INTERMISSION – Florida leads 2-1 through 20 minutes, with Koskinen standing tall with 14 saves on 16 shots. No Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the Oilers bench for the last half of that period, so we’ll try to update you all there when we know.

3:22: First shot goes off the bar, but Barkov buries the rebound. Florida leads. | FLA 2, EDM 1

3:39: Draisaitl trips up Bennett at the Oilers blueline. First man advantage to the Cats.

5:57: Koskinen gets the pad up on Patrik Hornqvist to deny another good Florida chance. The Panthers forward might’ve hit the post.

8:10: Vatrano drops it through his legs to Lundell from the left of Koskinen and he makes no mistake. Tie game with just over eight to play in the first. | EDM 1, FLA 1

9:46: DEREK BREAKS THE DEADLOCK!!! On a 2-on-1 with Warren Foegele, Ryan accepts the saucer pass from his linemate and puts it five-hole under Bobrovsky to open the scoring with his fifth of the season. Edmonton is 15-0-0 when scoring first this campaign – can they keep it going against one of the League’s best? | EDM 1, FLA 0

11:27: Edmonton’s first attempt is a tricky one for Sergei Bobrovsky as Zach Hyman takes a stretch pass from Darnell Nurse and puts a backhand on net to force Bobrovsky into a sharp save. Hyman looks to extend his goal-scoring streak to six games.

Shots are 8-2 in favour of Florida, but great pace here at FLA Live Arena.

14:14: SMOTHEREDon a 2-on-1! Koskinen keeps the puck out after Barkov’s pass went off Barrie and nearly into the net.

17:53: Mikko Koskinen extends the right pad to deny Frank Vatrono with a good save off a nice dangle & pass by Anton Lundell. Lundell takes the net off its moorings and the faceoff will come outside.

20:00: PUCK DROP!!!

20:00: Today’s game in Sunrise will begin at 10:37AM MT.
