THIRD PERIOD

0.0: CALIFORNIA DREAMING!!! The Oilers will be pumping La Bamba all the way home as they finish their back-to-back road trip perfect with a 4-2 win over the Kings. The Oilers return home to play the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in another huge Pacific Division meeting.

17.9: KANER ADDS ANOTHER INTO THE EMPTY-CAGE!!! | EDM 5, LA 2

1:25: EMPTY-NETTER ZACH HYMAN! McDavid dished it on a 2-on-1 to Hyman, who casually put it home to send us home with the two points. | EDM 4, LA 2

4:46: WHAT. A. GOAL. Draisaitl gets the puck on a rim below the Kings net and delivers a no-look feed onto the stick of Kailer Yamamoto in front, who wastes no time depositing the go-ahead goal and his ninth of the season past Petersen with just under five minutes left. | EDM 3, LA 2

8:18: Quick pass out front by Viktor Arvidsson is put away with just as much speed by Philip Danault. Tie game. | EDM 2, LA 2

11:52: Kane is sent to the box for a weak slashing call. LA will try to equalize with their sixth powerplay.

12:16: NUGE NETS THE GO-AHEAD GOAL!!! The puck pops out to the forward after an attempt from Hyman, who’s parked in front as Nuge wrists the Oilers to a 2-1 lead from between the hashmarks with just over 12 minutes left in regulation. | EDM 2, LA 1

13:33: Oilers beginning to press with the majority of possession in the Kings zone this period. Gotta find one.

18:08: Markus Niemelainen is held behind the net by Kailiyev. Powerplay to the Oilers coming up!

20:00: The third period has begun!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: A choppy second period ends with action, as McDavid ties the game just before the two-minute mark before Kane delivers a punch to Lemieux to give the Kings 54 seconds of PP time to start the third period.

1:06: Evander Kane gets mixed up with Lemieux near the Oilers bench after a whistle and delivers a punch through the referee and Lemieux goes down. That’ll be a roughing call late here in the middle frame.

2:13: McDavid goes hard to the net and puts his hands to the air after the second attempt as Jesse Puljujarvi crashes into the goal from a push on the back from a Kings defender. That should count! After reviewIT’S A GOAL!!! The refs consult with one another and determine the Kings player put Puljujarvi into the net, thus making it a good goal. That’ll go down as #25 on the season for McDavid and we have a TIE GAME!!! EDM 1, LAK 1

6:34: Choppy game so far in Los Angeles, with the Oilers leading 17-13 in shots but not many high-danger chances or good spells of possession in the offensive zone.

13:22: The parade to the penalty box continues with coincidental minors to McDavid and Moore, with the captain joining the Kings forward in the box for Unsportsmanlike Conduct after getting tangled up below the Oilers goal line.

16:17: Yamamoto takes a hard hit before Derek Ryan hooks Mikey Anderson to send the Oilers back to the penalty kill.

19:50: Aaaand just as we say that Dustin Brown takes a hooking penalty to even things up. Oilers will be on the man advantage in 12 seconds.

20:00: The second period is UNDERWAY with the Kings still on the powerplay for 22 seconds.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: A good final five minutes of the first period for the Kings gives the hosts a 1-0 lead heading into the intermission.

1:38: Edmonton not helping themselves right now as a bad bounce off the corner boards isn’t corralled by Smith and leads to William Lagesson taking a hooking penalty.

3:29: Oilers now going to be shorthanded after Darnell Nurse holds Anze Kopitar on what would’ve been a good opportunity for the Kings to double their lead. Not a good 31 seconds for the Blue & Orange.

4:00: Puck isn’t played to a defender by Smith behind the net and the Kings quickly pass it out in front for Arthur Kaliyev to slide home for the opening goal. | LA 1, EDM 0

10:30: Leon Draisaitl waits, waits, and waits before sending a back-door feed to McDavid as they broke into the zone but the Captain puts it high over Petersen.

12:41: Maata comes out of the box and gets sprung on a partial breakaway, but Bouchard tracks him down and sends him sliding into Smith. But we play on.

14:41: Only two shots to show for Edmonton in the first half of that powerplay, with Mike Smith sending a long pass that misses an Oiler and goes for icing.

16:41: Olli Maata gets the stick up on Hyman and takes a DOUBLE minor. Extended look for the Oilers PP here early.

20:00: PUCK DROP!!! Let’s go perfect through this roadie.

20:00: Tonight’s game at Crypto.com Arena will begin at 8:37pm MT.

20:00: Jay Woodcroft looks to be the first Oilers coach to win his first three games in charge as the Oilers go for three-straight wins and a perfect California back-to-back road trip Tuesday night at the Crypto.com Arena against the Los Angeles Kings. Mike Smith starts in goal for the Oilers, with Cal Petersen countering him in the Kings crease.

We’ll have a little bit of a delayed start to this one, with Drew Doughty set to be presented the Silver Stick for his 1,000th NHL game.
