0.0: That’ll do it. The Oilers get shut out by the Vegas Golden Knights 4-0 and fall to 23-17-3. Former Oilers Laurent Brossoit makes all 28 saves for the visitors. The Oilers won’t have to wait long to rectify tonight’s loss as they get back to it tomorrow night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
3:19: Janmark goes hard into the Oilers net and Smith takes exception, giving the forward a shot afterwards. Darnell Nurse gets involved after in defence of his goalkeeper.
19:46: Quick Vegas goal. Reilly Smith goes up top over Mike Smith 14 seconds into the frame.

SECOND PERIOD
3:09: ANOTHER Oilers post. That’s the third tonight. Can’t seem to beat the iron.
4:21: A backhand of Draisaitl’s caught a piece of the post on that power play, but not much else came from it. Edmonton is 0-for-3 with the man advantage tonight.
6:21: Connor keeps moving his feet and drawing penalties. This time it’s on Max Pacioretty, who impeded him in the neutral zone.
12:50: Stephenson gets his stick up on Draisaitl to earn two minutes for highsticking.
13:38: The puck deflects and bounces in front of Smith and the netminder has to squeeze it with his right side to prevent it front finding its way in.

FIRST PERIOD

1:12: Shore puts it off the crossbar after the puck kicked out in front from behind the Vegas net!
3:05: A blocked shot by Reilly Smith leads to a 2-on-0 shorthanded break that’s converted by William Karlsson. | VGK 2, EDM 0
4:00: Theodore bear hugs McDavid after the captain dumped it into the offensive zone. Can’t do that! Two minutes for holding.
5:12: The second line of Draisaitl, McLeod and Kassian work a nice passing play following a Vegas giveaway in their own zone, but Kassian can’t put Draisaitl’s cross-crease pass short side.
7:50: We reach the third TV timeout with Vegas up a goal but down 6-4 to the Oilers on shots.
