THIRD PERIOD

0.0: VICTOIRE POUR LES BLEU ET ORANGE!!! Edmonton has their fourth-straight victory with a comfy 7-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Hyman pitches in with a three-point night, Draisaitl notches a pair, and Kane posts his first goal for the Oilers as Edmonton improves to 22-17-2. We’ll try to roll this momentum into Monday, when the Oilers pay a visit to the nation’s capital for a date with the Ottawa Senators.

33.4: ONE MORE FOR GOOD MEASURE. Derek Ryan absolutely WIRES one top shelf on a one-timer off the feed from Devin Shore. Duncan Keith tabs on the secondary assist. | EDM 7, MTL 2

5:55: Pezzetta drops the gloves with Kassian off the faceoff and takes three good left punches before falling into the Edmonton net. I wouldn’t take that fight, but the Habs had to do something. Edmonton to the PP due to Pezzetta’s instigator.

9:42: The Oilers are seeing this out, playing with good puck possession as the clock dwindles below 10 minutes remaining. Shots 22-20 in favour of Montreal.

17:31: Nuge gets booked for tripping. Montreal converted on their only man advantage of the game in the second frame.

20:00: The third period has begun! Cayden Primeau now between the pipes for Montreal.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Another period, another three goals for the Oilers. Edmonton takes a 6-2 lead into the final frame and will try to close out its fourth-straight win.

4:28: LEON GETS ANOTHER!!! It’s an absolute goalfest here in Montreal. Just 26 seconds after Toffoli scored for the Habs, Draisaitl pots his second of the game to make it 6-2 with his 31st of the season off a rebound. | EDM 6, MTL 2

4:51: Tyler Toffoli pulls one back with a one-timer on the powerplay. | EDM 5, MTL 2

5:30: HYMAN AGAIN!!! It’s his second of the night, with Darnell Nurse and Nugent-Hopkins getting the helpers after Hyman found the back of the net on a nice turnaround shot in the circle. | EDM 4, MTL 1

13:08: NUUUUUUUGE!!! Get that goal back. The whole third line connects to return it to a three-goal game with Hyman finding Nugent-Hopkins alone in front from the corner to snipe far side past Montembault. Make it four goals on the season now for RNH. | EDM 4, MTL 1

16:02: Loose puck in front of Skinner after a high shot and Josh Anderson is there to bury the rebound. | EDM 3, MTL 1

17:35: Let’s not forget about STUUUUUUU! The Oilers netminder comes up big on a 2-on-1 by robbing Mike Hoffman.

20:00: The second period is UNDERWAY!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: What a period if you’re a fan of the Blue & Orange. Red & Blue? Not so much. Kane got us going with his first as an Oiler before Hyman and Draisaitl answered in quick succession afterwards to give Edmonton a 3-0 lead through 20 minutes.

6:51: DRAI GUY!!! Make it THREE for the Oilers inside the opening 13 minutes and change, and three goals in 1:48 of play, with the German sliding “but numero trente” (his 30th goal of the season) five-hole under Montembault. This train is chuggin’ and doesn’t look like it’s going to stop. | EDM 3, MTL 0

7:12: HYMAN TO DOUBLE THE LEAD!!! It’s an early 2-0 lead for the Oilers as Zach Hyman puts another terrific tip onto Russell’s point shot while facing backwards to score his 14th goal of the season. Two goals in 1:27 for the Blue & Orange. | EDM 2, MTL 0

7:40: Kris Russell, playing in his 900th NHL game tonight, puts one off the post through traffic in front. Nearly doubled the Oilers lead right there.

8:39: THE KANE TRAIN!!! It’s barely started moving and it’s already at full speed. Evan Bouchard puts a quick shot on net and the newest Oiler was there in front to deliver the perfect tip to send the puck in off the right post. What a start to his Oilers tenure. With that goal, Edmonton ends a streak of 11 games in a row allowing the first goal of the game. | EDM 1, MTL 0

13:20: First shot of the game for Edmonton sees Ryan McLeod force Sam Monembault into a blocker save from the top of the circle.

16:26: Leon Draisaitl forces a turnover in Montreal’s end but Warren Foegele’s shot at the end of it is deflected out of play.

19:25: Evander Kane steps onto the ice for his first shift as an Edmonton Oiler.

20:00: GAME ON! Let’s make it four.

20:00: Hello from the Bell Centre in Montreal, where the Edmonton Oilers will try and make it four wins in a row when Evander Kane makes his Orange & Blue debut against the Canadiens. The newly-signed winger will flank Connor McDavid and Kailer Yamamoto as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shifts back to centre on the third line with Zach Hyman and Zack Kassian.
