0.0: Play La Bamba! The Oilers defeat the Coyotes 5-3 at Gila River Arena to return to the win column in the second game of a back-to-back. Draisaitl & McDavid have four-point nights, Kassian nets three himself and Koskinen turns aside 24 of 27 for the Oilers 14th win of the year!

27.5: DAVO! The Captain seals it with an empty-netter for his second goal of the night and fourth point. The goal is challenged for offside, however, but it stands! That’s McDavid’s 14th of the season. | EDM 5, ARI 2

7:59: The Oilers exhaust the Coyotes with a relentless forecheck in the offensive zone that leads to a holding minor against Chychrun. Edmonton will try to ice it on the power play.

12:15: INSURANCE SCORE! Kassian deposits Draisaitl’s cross-ice pass to extend the lead to two with his fourth of the season and second point of the night. McDavid becomes the fourth-quickest skater to 400 assists with the secondary helper, notching the milestone in Game 426. | EDM 3, ARI 1

13:22: McDavid attacks from the left side by zipping a wrist shot off the iron then Ryan McLeod runs out of real estate while on an odd-man rush with Pujujärvi as the Oilers seek the insurance marker.

18:20: Nugent-Hopkins releases a shot from outside in search of Hyman’s blade for the tip but Wedgewood snares the puck with his trapper.

20:00: The third period has begun with the Oilers in the lead.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Draisaitl puts the Oilers up in the second stanza after 40 minutes of play. Koskinen has compiled 18 saves and Broberg is up to 12:56 of ice time.

3:47: Wedgewood lunges cross-crease to catch Kassian’s attempt off the rush, keeping the Coyotes within reach with a save of the night candidate.

5:43: Sceviour whiffs and goes wide from the slot then snaps his stick in frustration. He notched his first point of the campaign Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks with a helper and is looking to get back on the scoresheet tonight.

7:08: Russell places himself in a perfect position ahead of the crease to intercept a Coyotes centring pass and prompt the breakout.

9:07: SNIPE SHOW! Draisaitl PUMPS a rebound past Wedgewood from that awkward angle he loves most to pot his League-leading 19th of the season. The Oilers get ahead for the first time tonight as Kassian and Cody Ceci earn the assists. | EDM 2, ARI 1

10:21: McDavid drops for Draisaitl and he quickly snaps a shot on net but Wedgewood gets his pad on it then covers it up for the whistle.

14:36: Hyman charges towards the cage then looks back-door but nobody’s home to deposit the feed.

15:55: Colton Sceviour drives wide and pulls a pack of Coyotes with him but is unable to connect the pass across to Tyler Benson.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Nugent-Hopkins’ vintage wrister is turned aside by Wedgewood as the Coyotes keep Edmonton at bay on the power play. Keller and McDavid have this one deadlocked at 1-1 through 20 minutes of play.

2:01: Travis Boyd takes a slashing penalty to give the Oilers another power play.

5:02: ROAD HOCKEY! McDavid muscles home a rebound and takes a punishing shove against the post from Ilya Lyubushkin right after to knot the game up with his 13th of the season. Leon Draisaitl and Tyson Barrie get the helpers. | EDM 1, ARI 1

5:51: Hyman’s penalty expires and the Oilers regain possession in the offensive zone, seeing Evan Bouchard’s point shot catch a bounce and kiss the post. Shots are 12-7 Arizona. A scrum ensues after the whistle and Antoine Roussel is pointed to the box for roughing.

9:02: Hyman tries to dash up the wall from his own zone but catches Shayne Gostisbehere with his stick in the process to warrant a high sticking minor. The Oilers go back to the PK.

12:30: Koskinen stones Phil Kessel’s one-timer from the kitchen at 4-on-4. During the Oilers abbreviated power play, Connor McDavid’s blast from the half-wall is dealt with by goaltender Scott Wedgewood.

14:33: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman go to work on the power kill and end up drawing a penalty against ‘Yotes defender Kyle Capobianco.

15:45: Broberg is whisked away for cross-checking. Edmonton goes shorthanded for the first time tonight.

17:02: Jakob Chychrun’s wrist shot from the slot is blocked away by Koskinen and Travis Boyd can’t get ahold of the rebound from the side of the cage as the Coyotes storm out to a 5-0 shot advantage.

20:00: Game on! Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett mixes up his forward combos and defence pairs in the desert with the left side of the blueline missing key cogs Darnell Nurse, Duncan Keith and Slater Koekkoek. Philip Broberg, Kris Russell and William Lagesson will take on that duty against Arizona in front of Mikko Koskinen in goal.
