0.0: It’s over, as the Oilers suffer their first loss of the season with a 5-3 final, breaking the team’s five-game winning streak. McDavid & Barrie net one goal and one assist apiece, RNH picks up two helpers and Koskinen makes 29 saves. Edmonton is back in action Saturday on the road against Vancouver.

58.8: Sean Couturier ices an empty-net goal from Edmonton’s blueline for the insurance.  

1:30: The Oilers get lucky with a Philadelphia clear that rolls beside the post for an icing.

1:57: Just under two minutes remain as the Oilers continue to search for the game-tying goal.

4:23: Hart has the answer to Draisaitl’s kill shot from the spot and Puljujäri can’t find the rebound.

6:12: McDavid is interfered with, being pushed into Hart’s net. Travis Konecny goes to the box for two minutes. The Oilers get a chance to knot it up.

7:33: Laughton puts a shot on Koskinen and he gloves it down. The Flyer has been buzzing around the cage all night.

14:41: Slater Koekkoek takes a cross-checking penalty. The Oilers will need a big kill here. They’re 1-for-1 tonight.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The second closes deadlocked at 3-3. Edmonton has 25 shots on goal to Philly’s 18 through 40. The Flyers have blocked 22 shots tonight.

2:08: Kailer Yamamoto can’t put back a one-timer from in-tight and Bouchard’s long look from the kitchen sails high.

7:39: Kossu! The keeper stays with the play to make a chest save on Joel Farabee’s net drive.

9:24: Bouchard makes a lightning-quick pass to spring Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on a breakaway. He whips a wrister just past the left post.

11:41: Derek Ryan, Zack Kassian and Warren Foegele get in and muck about the boards in the Flyers zone, leading to some dangerous looks around the cage. The third line keeps showing chemistry.

19:06: HYPE MAN! Puljujärvi goes across to Hyman for a one-timer that leaks through Hart’s right arm. That’s SIX goals for the free-agent acquisition so far this season! Safe to say he’s fitting in just fine… McDavid & Puljujärvi nab the apples. | EDM 3, PHI 3

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: A five-goal period sees the Flyers up by a single to enter the second. Shots are 13-12 in favour of Edmonton.

0.6: Atkinson swipes at a knuckling puck from an aerial pass to score a buzzer-beater. Philly pulls ahead. | PHI 3, EDM 2

17.8: DAVO! McDavid’s centring feed from the left half-wall catches a bounce off a Philly defender to slip past Hart on the power play. The cap’s got seven on the year and 14 points! | EDM 2, PHI 2

1:20: Zack MacEwan makes a dangerous hit on Cody Ceci three feet from the boards to warrant a boarding penalty. Oilers have yet to pounce on the power play tonight.

3:50: End-to-end! McDavid does a 360 spin to feed Jesse Puljujärvi off the rush and his quick forehand one-timer skitters wide. In the Oilers zone, Koskinen reads the Flyers’ 2-on-1 perfectly with a pad stop on Scott Laughton that he made look easy.

12:38: Flyers captain Claude Giroux deposits a wraparound goal despite the Oilers applying heavy pressure right before. The visitors open the scoring. | PHI 1, EDM 0

17:04: Smooth movement from the Oilers on the power play but Connor McDavid is off-target with his shot from the left slot. Zach Hyman takes a hooking minor and now the 3rd-best power play (36.4%) in the League gets a chance.

18:59: Philly defender Rasmus Ristolainen takes a high-sticking minor to give the Oilers top-ranked power play (47.1%) a go.

20:00: Can the Oilers make it six straight? Game on!
