0.0: OILERS WIN! McDavid leads the way with one goal and two helpers while four other Oilers register a multi-point night. Smith and Koskinen get the shared shutout with 34 saves total. Edmonton will head to Winnipeg for a game against the Jets on Wednesday!

3:32: Draisaitl saucers a pass over to Nugent-Hopkins and he kisses the iron with a hot shot. The Oilers fail to score on the two-man advantage.

8:47: Brandon Tanev takes a cross-checking penalty to give the Oilers another two-man advantage. The League says they will be cracking down on cross-checks this season.

9:19: Nathan Bastian sticks his knee out on Philip Broberg and the Oilers defender goes down but appears to be OK. Bastian takes a kneeing infraction and will sit two minutes.

9:41: The Kraken cause chaos in Koskinen’s crease but the Oilers tighten up defensively to clear the zone. The Finnish keeper has 10 saves.

13:51: Koskinen does a great job to track an incoming point shot then shows off his hand-eye by batting the rebound away from danger.

17:43: OFF THE DRAW! The Oilers orchestrate some beautiful movement after an offensive zone faceoff win, setting up Perlini in the high slot for a blistering one-timer. He has two goals tonight and three this pre-season. Turris and Nurse get the apples. | EDM 6, SEA 0

17:48: Draisaitl dishes a pass to Yamamoto out front but he’s thwarted by Daccord.

20:00: The third period has begun with Joey Daccord between the pipes for Seattle.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The Orange & Blue add two more in the middle frame to extend the lead to 5-0! Perlini nets his second of the exhibition season and McDavid notches his first. Koskinen stops all five pucks he faced as the Oilers lead the shot count 23-22.

1:36: MAKE IT 🖐! Doesn’t get easier than that for McDavid, who dumps home Draisaitl’s cross-crease feed for the man-advantage marker. | EDM 5, SEA 0

1:45: Jeremy Lauzon heads to the box for closing his hand on the puck. The powerplay goes to back to work.

4:17: GIVE & GOAL! Brendan Perlini and Devin Shore work the give-and-go perfectly for Perlini’s second goal of the pre-season! | EDM 4, SEA 0

5:25: Borgen gets a point shot through a mess of bodies but Koskinen stays square to kick it aside.

9:05: Yamamoto gets tied up with Ryker Evans and receives a holding penalty. Edmonton goes to the kill.

9:53: Smith makes a trapper save then gets the whistle, seeing his night end with 18 saves on 18 shots. Mikko Koskinen steps in for his first taste of pre-season action.

11:11: SHots are 18-17 near the midway mark of period two. Seattle has seven blocked shots to Edmonton’s four.

15:00: Smith makes a great paddle stop from in-tight then stays composed to keep the puck out as it trickles in the crease.

16:19: McDavid finds a wide-open Puljujärvi just ahead of the crease for a one-timer but Driedger shuts the door.

20:00: The puck has dropped on the second period!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: What a period! The Oilers take a three-goal lead into the middle frame after goals from Nurse, Puljujärvi and Hyman. Smith stops all 11 shots he faced.

3:52: TIC-TAC-TOE! Zach Hyman caps a beautiful passing play between his two new linemates for his first in Oilers threads! Puljujarvi found McDavid in the slot and he proceeded to go to Hyman backdoor for the easy tap-in. | EDM 3, SEA 0

6:54: The Oilers are tagged with a too many men minor. Kyle Turris will sit the two minutes.

7:48: POWER-PLAY PARTY! McDavid goes goal0line to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who links the puck over to Puljujärvi at the goalmouth for the power-play marker! Puljujärvi is looking to build off a great 2020-21 year. RNH and the Captain get the helpers.

7:57: McDavid is robbed at the side of the net by Driedger but Draisaitl was tripped right before by Will Borgen. Edmonton gets a two-man advantage now.

9:27: Brendan Perlini cuts up the middle of the ice then breaches Seattle’s zone, being hooked by Carsen Twarynski. The Oilers lethal man-advantage unit gets to have some fun now.

10:47: Puljujärvi strides down the right side and launches a wrist shot that Driedger gobbles up.

11:51: Make that two straight kills for the Oilers shorthanded units!

14:01: Smith sends the puck over the glass and out of play, sending the Kraken back to the power play. Pujujärvi serves it.

14:10: DOC! Nurse winds up the ice, gains the O-zone then SNAPS a shot 5-hole on goaltender Chris Driedger to open the scoring! Don’t forget, The Oilers Dman had 16 tucks last season. | EDM 1, SEA 0

16:20: Hyman tries to deposit the puck from the backdoor with a cheeky through-the-legs move to no avail. He then digs in for the loose puck along the boards but takes a tripping penalty. Edmonton’s penalty kill goes to work.

17:43: Leon Draisaitl pickpockets the puck behind the Kraken net and feeds Ryan Nugent-Hopkins out front but his backhander misses the mark. The DRY Line looks to re-create that magic from a few seasons ago.

20:00: Welcome back, Oil Country! Tonight’s game has begun as the Oilers face the Seattle Kraken for the first time! The big line of Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman and Jesse Puljujärvi start up front. Darnell Nurse and Tyson Barrie lead the defence out and Mike Smith take his position in the Oilers crease.
