0.0: OILERS WIN! The Flames are sent home packing, suffering a 4-1 defeat to the Oilers! Draisaitl is the Human Apple Tree with four assists, McDavid nets a beauty plus two helpers and Smith makes 29 saves for his 18th win of the year. Edmonton will visit Vancouver on Monday.

1:06: ARCHIE WITH THE DAGGER! Josh Archibald hits the back of the open net from the centre line to put the Oilers ahead by two. He has seven goals this season while Draisaitl net his 300th career assist and McDavid gets the secondary helper for his third point. | EDM 3, CGY 1
1:53: Calgary pulls Markstrom for the extra attacker.
3:27: Smith misplays the puck in the trapezoid, giving it up to Derek Ryan. The Flames forward’s centring feed is picked off by none other than McDavid to avert any danger.
6:19: Things continue to get chippy as Puljujärvi and Mark Giordano mix it up. Nugent-Hopkins comes in to defend the big Finn and ends up scuffling with Tkachuk. Both RNH and Tkachuk go to the box for roughing. forcing more 4-on-4 action.
6:39: Mangiapane encroaches from the left side and sends a wrist shot high and wide of the net. Oilers continue to hang on with over six left to play.
11:34: Ding ding! Tyson Barrie and Tkachuk get tangled up in front of the net and then get into a mini scrap. Barrie gets two for roughing and Tkachuk takes a penalty for slashing. The teams go 4-on-4 for two minutes.
16:38: McLeod goes to Nugent-Hopkins at the side of the cage and he can’t jam home the puck from the sharp angle. McLeod continues to look for his first NHL point but he’s been buzzing.
17:11: The Flames storm out with some early gusto in the frame as they battle for the comeback to keep their playoff hopes alive.

SECOND PERIOD
0.0: Gaudreau scores the lone goal of the period, making way for what should stack up to be a tight third period. Smith has 18 saves on the night.
5:00 SCHMIDDY! The guardian makes an incredible scorpion save on Gaudreau as the Flames smothered the crease in search of the equalizer.
6:27: The Oilers are called for a bench minor too many men violation. They go shorthanded for the third time tonight. Yamamoto serves it.
7:18: Stone tries to sonk Smith on a dump-in but the Oilers puck-stopper tracks the sneaky play. Smith has 12 saves tonight.
9:12: Gaudreau puts back Matthew Tkachuk’s rebound to get within one. | EDM 2, CGY 1
10:09: UNDER SIEGE! The Oilers barrage the Flames with all sorts of pressure but Michael Stone makes an amazing skate save while Markstrom is down and out to keep Edmonton from finding twine.
12:02: Milan Lucic is guilty of cross-checking. The Orange & Blue go back to the man advantage.
15:21: Johnny Gaudreau flies into the zone and dings the iron with a hot shot off the rush.
19:11: The Oilers big line gets on the ice and straight to work, with McDavid zipping a shot from the left dot that Jacob Markstrom squeezes tight to hold.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: McDavid and Bear put the Oilers on the board and Smith keeps the Flames off it with seven stops, including a key one on Mangiapane from the slot.
2:55: Two-for-two! Edmonton stymies Calgary’s second power play of the game.
7:49: The Oilers don’t give up much on the Flames’ man advantage, killing it with relative ease. Darnell Nurse takes a boarding penalty when the sides went back to even strength, giving the visiting side another power-play attempt.
10:38: Bear is whistled for interference. Calgary will get a chance to cut the deficit in half on the power play.
12:41: FEAR THE BEAST! McDavid goes low to Ethan Bear and he blasts a ROCKET to put the Oilers up by a pair with his second of the season. This one comes after Smith absolutely robbed Andrew Mangiapane from the slot at the other end. | EDM 2, CGY 0
15:14: YOU CAN’T STOP CONNOR! McDavid fights through Tanev’s check and SNAPS home a top-shelf beauty for his 29th goal of the year in his 400th career game! He has 554 points in his career, the same amount as Sidney Crosby did at that juncture of his tenure in the NHL. | EDM 1, CGY 0
16:05: Puljujärvi slices his way through two Flames defenders for a great opportunity on the backhand but can’t get it to go. Juuso Valimaki goes off for hooking and the Oilers go to the man advantage.
17:40: An eyelash from going in! Kailer Yamamoto’s shot rebounds off Chris Tanev’s skate and hits the post, then when the Flames try to clear the puck from pressure, it trickles across the goal-line and out. A wild series of events to start the game but it’s still scoreless.
20:00: The final Battle of Alberta of the 2020-21 regular season has begun! Caleb Jones steps in for Kris Russell on the blueline and Ryan McLeod jumps up to centre the second line between Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujärvi. Mike Smith gets the ball in net.
