7:02: SHORE THING! Caleb Jones grips it, rips it and Devin Shore tips it as the Oilers gain the go-ahead goal with under 10 minutes to play in regulation. Shore now has two goals in his last three games and four on the year. | EDM 2, OTT 1

7:37: HUGE shoulder save by Smith on Thomas Chabot as he threatens on an odd-man rush.

8:55: END-TO-END! Zack Kassian rushes in from the wing and tries to charge his way to the net but is tripped before getting there, leading to an individual effort the other way by Nick Paul. Neither goaltender budges to preserve the even score.

11:57: McDavid is stopped with a quick 5-hole one-timer then loses grip of the puck on his second effort. Edmonton leads Ottawa 7-4 in shots in the third.

15:36: The Sens push back by getting the puck in low then transferring it to the slot for a Brady Tkachuk one-timer that doesn’t find twine.

17:53: Josh Archibald gets a great look from in-tight following a point shot but can’t get it to go. The Oilers line of Shore-Khaira-Archibald continues playing well and starts off with a great early shift in the third.

20:00: The puck has dropped on the third! Oilers look for their ninth win against the Sens to cap the series.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Yamamoto notches his eighth on the power play but Brown responds as the Oilers and Senators enter the 3rd period in a 1-1 deadlock. Ottawa owns the shot count with a 24-13 margin.

1:57: Brown beats Smith from the left dot to even the score. He’s up to six shots tonight. | EDM 1, OTT 1

4:46: Shots are 22-11 OTT near the end of the second period.

9:00: YAMO 🍠! The Oilers winger digs in a rebound from the crease to put the Oilers on the board with his eighth of the season. That’s his first goal since March 6. McDavid and Tyson Barrie grab the helpers. | EDM 1, OTT 0

9:31: McDavid engages in a puck battle with Nikita Zaitsev and ends up drawing a penalty against the Sens defender. Edmonton goes to the power play for the first time tonight.

14:27: Alex Formenton slices his way into the zone and fires a shot at Smith that gets swallowed up by his chest protector.

17:22: McDavid cuts inside the right circle and wastes no time in slipping a shot on goal to no avail.

20:00: The second period has begun.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Ottawa out-shoots Edmonton 10-5 in the first, prompting Smith to remain active in the opening 20.

1:56: Smith loses the puck while playing it, recovering just in time to keep the Sens from scoring into an open net.

4:46: Chabot rips a shot from the right side and Smith is there for the save. The Sens are battling early, looking to disrupt Edmonton’s attempt at the series sweep.

7:05: Smith sends the puck out of play. Edmonton goes on the penalty kill for the second time tonight.

7:18: Mike Reilly slaps a shot on and Connor Brown tries to chip in the rebound but Smith puffs out for the stop.

13:07: Haas intercepts a Senators pass for a partial breakaway but is stopped by Forsberg on the backhand.

13:29: The puck squirts out to Nick Paul in the slot and he pounces on it with a quick rip but Smith stays sharp with a right pad save.

15:19: The Oilers avoid any danger shorthanded, limiting Ottawa’s space to get the kill.

17:32: Haas, playing on the second line tonight, takes an early tripping minor to give the Sens the game’s first power play.

20:00: Tonight’s series finale between the Oilers and Senators has begun! Ryan Nugent-Hopkins appears to be a late scratch, bringing in Gaëtan Haas. Mike Smith starts in goal and goes up against Ottawa’s Anton Forsberg.
