0.0 The Oilers fail to find twine as the club falls 4-0 to the Canadiens on Tuesday night. Edmonton will head back to Oil Country to prepare for a date with the Calgary Flames on Friday.

2:51: Barrie goes into the boards for a uck battle with Anderson but gets brought down by the Canadiens forward. Anderson sits two minutes for tripping.

5:54: Draisaitl tries to bank the puck in off Price’s mask from behind the goal-line but can’t fool the keeper.

9:24: McDavid enters the Habs’ zone and drops for Kassian but the winger’s shot sifts wide of the far post.

12:11: The Oilers have the only two shots of the third period but continue to be out-shot 25-13 overall.

15:11: Nurse sweeps the puck on net from the corner but nobody is home to fetch for the rebound or cause disruption on Price.

16:47: The Oilers neutralize their fourth penalty of the evening.

20:00: The third period is under way with the Canadiens on the man advantage.

0.0: The Oilers trail 4-0 after 40 minutes. Shots are 26-11 in favour of Montreal.

13.6: Barrie gets called for hooking Nick Suzuki.

6:09: McDavid fires a laser top corner on a 3-on-1 but Jesse Puljujärvi has to extend his back leg on the entrance, going offside to have the goal called back.

10:16: The pipe echoes after Barrie kisses the post with a blast from the point. The Oilers still can’t solve Carey Price and the Canadiens.

13:05: Gallagher brings Ethan Bear down to warrant a tripping call. Another chance on the man advantage goes to the Oilers.

13:18: Kassian tips Turris’ shot from the half-wall but the Oilers don’t get much going offensively other than that on the power play.

15:59: Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett shuffles up his line combinations and defence pairings, putting RNH-Draisaitl-Yamamoto together and Kassian-McDavid-Puljujarvi as a unit. Habs defender Alexander Romanov takes a cross-checking minor in front of the Canadiens’ net to give the Oilers their first power-play opportunity.

2:34: Connor McDavid throws a high hit at Kotkaniemi and gets called for roughing.

4:01: Brendan Gallagher jumps on an open puck in the Oilers crease to extend the lead to three. | MTL 3, EDM 0

6:06: The Canadiens hound the Oilers cage but can’t put the puck past the goal-line as Phillip Danault misses on the backhand and Tomas Tatar can’t beat Koskinen on the rebound.

10:20: Turris pops out of the box and pounces on a loose puck, ripping it off the pipe and out. Oilers are 2-or-2 on the PK.

12:33: Kyle Turris heads to the box for holding. Oilers go shorthanded for the second time of the period.

15:13: Ding ding! William Lagesson looks to provide a spark for the Oilers by dropping the mitts with Josh Anderson. Anderson lands a blow to bring Lagesson down but the Swede held his own in his first NHL career fight.

16:37: The Oilers kill the unsuccessful coach’s challenge penalty but Artturi Lehkonen slams a backhander in after it expires to put Montreal up by a pair. | MTL 2, EDM 0
