0.0: Play Tarzan Boy! The Oilers break their two-game slump with a big 3-1 win against the Maple Leafs. Draisaitl nets the game-winning goal and Koskinen stops 25 of 26 shots for his second win of the season! The two sides will meet again on Friday.

1:06: ARCHIE! Jason Spezza misses a WIDE OPEN net in the Oilers end then Josh Archibald puts back an empty-netter while Andersen is pulled in favour of the extra attacker. Archibald notches his first of the year and the assists go to McDavid and Nurse. | EDM 3, TOR 1

5:59: Koekkoek lets a shot fly from the blueline and Nugent-Hopkins hacks at the rebound but Andersen leaps to get the whistle.

10:48: POWER UP! The Oilers FINALLY breakthrough on the man advantage as Draisaitl deposits the puck from the side of the cage for his first of the campaign. Helpers go to Jesse Puljujarvi (his first of the year) and Nugent-Hopkins. | EDM 2, TOR 1

13:41: Slater Koekkoek winds up the slap-pass intended for Kahun’s stick just ahead of the crease, to no avail. Shots are 21-16 Toronto.

18:07: William Nylander cuts into the Oilers zone and releases a shot that Koskinen holds.

20:00: The third period has begun!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Toronto fires on all cylinders during their latest power play with five shots on goal but Koskinen keeps everything out, including a pair of Auston Matthews zingers. Oilers remain in the driver’s seat with a one-goal lead heading into the 3rd.

2:25: Koskinen gets a blocker on T.J. Brodie’s slap shot and the rebound leaks through the crease. McDavid later takes a hooking minor, giving the Leafs their second man advantage of the night.

5:02: The Orange & Blue’s second power play is stymied by the Maple Leafs.

7:05: Alexander Kerfoot gets his stick up high on Draisaitl, giving the Oilers their second power-play opportunity of the evening.

8:26: Edmonton can’t muster much offence on the man advantage, registering just a single shot on goal.

12:18: The Oilers go to the power play after Marner takes a holding minor against Nurse.

14:00: Draisaitl looks for Dominik Kahun cross-ice but the pass is just a bit too hot and hops over his stick.

16:24: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins whips a wrist shot from the top of the left circle but Andersen puffs his chest for the stop.

20:00: The second period has begun!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The puck skitters towards Toronto’s net and finds its way to Chiasson’s blade but he can’t lift it over Frederik Andersen’s pad. The first period ends with the Oilers up by one thanks to Yamamoto’s goal. Shots are 8-3 TOR.

2:33: Koskinen makes two stops during Nurse’s minor. Edmonton goes 1-for-1 on the PK.

4:36: Nurse wraps his arm around Mitch Marner, signalling a holding call against. The Oilers go shorthanded for the first time tonight.

6:36: Very few stoppages of play so far. Toronto leads the Oilers in the shot clock but some fortunate puck luck has Edmonton ahead.

9:17: OILERS GOAL! Jimmy Vesey tries to pass the puck out of danger near Toronto’s crease but his clear attempt bounces off Muzzin’s leg and in. The goal is credited to Kailer Yamamoto for his second of the season. | EDM 1, TOR 0

11:07: Mikko Koskinen pushes out to stop Morgan Rielly’s wrister off the rush then Connor McDavid trudges up ice all alone, beating Jake Muzzin but failing to register a shot on goal.

16:58: The Oilers fourth line gets to work in Toronto’s zone as Alex Chiasson finds Devin Shore in the slot but he can’t pull the trigger.

20:00: Tonight’s game has begun! Ethan Bear slots back into the lineup for William Lagesson. He will pair up with his usual partner Darnell Nurse.
