SECOND PERIOD
0.0: Hoglander’s late marker puts Vancouver in the driver’s seat to begin the third. Edmonton will start the 3rd with eight seconds of power play time.
1:52: McDavid is hooked from behind on a partial break, resulting in a Hamonic minor.
2:41: Nils Hoglander puts back a rebound in tight to give the Canucks a lead late in the second frame. | VAN 2, EDM 1
7:35: The Oilers get a few looks but can’t convert on their second power play of the evening.
9:59: McDavid JUST misses the far side on his backhand as Holtby gets his toe across. Looks like the Oilers will get their second power play of the night after Travis Hamonic slashed No. 97.
11:40: The Oilers get a few consecutive chances, first with a Jesse Puljujarvi quick snap shot and then with Kahun’s nifty one-timer.
14:21: YAMOOOOO! Yamamoto one-time snipes his first of the season off a perfect Draisaitl feed! The Spokane product did a great job to keep the play alive before finding twine for Edmonton’s first goal of the year. | EDM 1, VAN 1
15:39: Connor McDavid slices his way into the offensive zone then tries to out-wait Holtby but the goaltender sticks with it the Oilers Captain’s low shot.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: Horvat gives the Canucks the edge after 20. Shots are 8-7 heading into the second.
3:00: Leon Draisaitl tries to catch Holtby off-guard with a sharp angle shot but the netminder keeps it out.
4:28: Tanner Pearson finds Horvat all alone and the Vancouver captain beats Koskinen blocker side to open the scoring. | VAN 1, EDM 0
4:43: Both sides see their man advantage attempts nullified. Shots are 7-5 Vancouver.
7:07: MIKKO! The keeper is the Oilers best penalty killer with a huge save on Brock Boeser. After Yamamoto’s penalty expired, he was dumped in Vancouver’s crease by Jake Virtanen. The Oilers go to the power play for the first time this year.
9:21: Mikko Koskinen makes a huge stop on Bo Horvat for his first big save of the evening. Kailer Yamamoto later trips up Elias Pettersson and heads to the box for two minutes. Edmonton’s penalty kill goes to work for the first time this season.
13:05: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tries to stuff the puck on the short side but Holtby keeps his pad fastened to the post.
15:24: Dominik Kahun accepts a pass from Slater Koekkoek but can’t put a backhander past Braden Holtby.
