3:53: NEALER! James Neal cleans up the garbage in front to pull the Oilers within three late. That’s three power-play goals today for the Oilers. The lone assist goes to McDavid. | CHI 6, EDM 3

4:20: Oilers get a late man advantage as David Kampf heads to the box for high sticking.

4:50: The Oilers kill Yamamoto’s penalty, in large part thanks to Koskinen, who made a pair of point-blank stops.

10:02: Kailer Yamamoto is sent to the sin bin for hooking.

14:38: McDavid tries to out-wait Crawford on a partial break but can’t beat the goaltender. Shots are 36-23 CHI.

18:07: Edmonton gets set up on their short power play but can’t find the back of the net. We’re back at even strength with the Oilers now 2-for-3 on the man advantage.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Draisaitl JUST fails to put a blast through Crawford as the period winds down. Edmonton heads into the 3rd down by four.

1:09: Kane gets called for hooking. Edmonton needs their power play to stay hot to get back into this one.

2:25: Kubalik adds another, tipping Duncan Keith’s point shot for his second of the match. | CHI 6, EDM 2

3:17: Alex Chiasson zings the iron with a hot one-timer from in close. Later in the play, Ennis sprawled out to go for the puck but ended up tripping Kirby Dach. Oilers go back to the penalty kill.

8:56: Edmonton gets a big kill on Ennis’ delay of game minor, with Koskinen seeing no shortage of action. He has five saves already.

12:18: Tyler Ennis sends the puck out of play for a delay of game minor. Chicago is 2-for-3 on the PP today.

13:28: Kubalik wires a one-timer past Smith as the ‘Hawks regain their three-goal lead. That’s it for Smith in goal, as Mikko Koskinen comes in for relief. Smith finishes with 18 saves on 23 shots. | CHI 5, EDM 2

0.0: A tough opening 20 sees the Oilers trail 4-1 to Chicago. Smith made 12 saves on 16 shots, as Toews has two for the ‘Hawks and Dominik Kubalik has three helpers.

1:41: Edmonton kills McDavid’s minor.

2:31: The Blackhawks get close to adding another with a Patrick Kane one-timer that hit the bar.

4:00: McDavid gets called for high-sticking. Edmonton is back shorthanded.
