4:03: Ristolainen one-timed a blast from the left point following a pass from Ryan O’Reilly for the winner only 57 seconds into overtime.

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Period three comes to an end. Shots 37-24 for the Oilers.

16.3: Adam Larsson received two minutes for holding to put the Sabres on the power play at a critical moment.

10:01: With 28 seconds left in the Kane penalty, Draisaitl scored. He redirected a shot from Connor McDavid past Nilsson for his seventh power play goal of the season. | EDM 3, BUF 2

11:34: Moments after Reinhart’s chance, Kane was sent off for cross-checking and that set up an Edmonton power play opportunity to steal back some momentum and perhaps gain the lead.

6:00: Oilers announce that Mark Fayne will not return to tonight’s game.

7:03: Cody Franson heads to the box, giving the Oilers PP another shot.

9:29: With three seconds left in the man advantage, Edmonton scored to give their squad some life. In a wild scramble in front of netminder Anders Nilsson, the puck was fired in by Jordan Eberle. The play was reviewed to see if Drake Caggiula had interfered with the goaltender on the play and it was ultimately determined that he did not. | BUF 2, EDM 1

11:26: Jake McCabe takes an interference penalty to put Edmonton on the power play for the first time on the evening.

13:26: Each team has registered a shot so far in the middle frame.

15:59: Penalty was killed off. Neither team has a shot on goal in the second period as of yet.

18:15: Connor McDavid headed to the box for interference, giving the Sabres an early man advantage.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After one, the Oilers trailed 2-0 and shots were 10-5 Buffalo.

3:30: Shots are now 10-3 for the Sabres with time winding down in the opening frame.

6:14: The Sabres extend their lead to 2-0. Marcus Foligno quickly fed it to Brian Gionta who backhanded it past Talbot to make it a two-goal game. | BUF 2, EDM 0

8:23: Shots are now 5-2 for the Sabres.

9:22: With 25 seconds left in the man advantage, Evander Kane rifled a shot from the side boards that squeezed through the pads of Talbot and then trickled over the line to put the Sabres in front. | BUF 1, EDM 0

10:33: The puck slid across the crease with Talbot down and out and Sekera did a good job spinning and clearing the puck out of harm’s way.

10:57: The first penalty of the game went to the Oilers as Zack Kassian received two minutes for hooking.

12:03: Shots now 3-2 Sabres nearly eight minutes into the game.

16:00: Four minutes in, both teams have one shot on goal. Edmonton’s shot was far more dangerous as Connor McDavid nearly scored on the opening shift of the game.
