1:58 THE DOC! Darnell Nurse hacks at a puck in the Oilers zone and it finds its way inside Florida’s empty net. Nurse’s fifth of the season is a big one as it restores Edmonton’s two-goal advantage. He even scores it in front of his parents! | EDM 3, FLA 1
4:23: Shots are 29-27 FLA as the Oilers look to hold onto their one-goal lead late.
5:46: The Oilers manifest yet another stingy shorthanded effort, getting the better of the chances on FLA’s power play as Draisaitl shoots on a 2-on-1 and Khaira whiffs on the rebound.
8:59: The Oilers will need to suppress another penalty as Yamamoto chops Huberdeau’s stick out of his hands.
11:14: Huberdeau gets one to go from a sharp angle. The Panthers cut the deficit to one. | EDM 2, FLA 1
15:05: OH MY MIKKO! The Oilers kill Archibald’s minor but Jonathan Huberdeau later accepts a perfect saucer pass on his tape and tries to go backhand on Koskinen but the keeper extends his left pad for the HUGE stop.
18:17: Archibald goes off for high sticking. this one is just a minor as the Oilers need a big kill.
19:47: DR. DRAI! Draisaitl puts back Yamamoto’s rebound for his 33rd of the season, extending his point streak to four games (4G, 4A). Yamamoto and RNH get both assists, giving them two on the afternoon each! | EDM 2, FLA 0
20:00: The third period has begun!
SECOND PERIOD
0.0: Florida puts their foot on the gas late in the frame, scratching and clawing away for the equalizer but not netting it. Edmonton still leads by one heading into the 3rd. Shots are 19-16 FLA.
4:17: MIGHTY MIKKO! The goaltender gets his catcher’s mitt on Acciari’s in-tight attempt. Koskinen has 16 saves so far.
6:02: Koskinen kicks away Barkov’s soft backhander from the slot after yet another strong shift by the Oilers, who are carrying much of the play.
9:02: Khaira and Josh Brown drop the mitts. Both head to the box for fighting.
10:10: Draisaitl gets a breakaway but gets disrupted just enough to thwart his attempt for a shot. The Oilers fail to convert on the power play.
14:43: Matt Benning checks Aleksander Barkov along the boards and Noel Acciari doesn’t like it, hunting Benning down and fighting him. The two head to the penalty box for the fighting major and FLA gets the extra two for an Acciari slash. Edmonton heads to the man advantage for the first time today.
16:59: Frank Vatrano is the recipient of a botched pass by Sheahan, finding himself 1-on-1 with Koskinen but going high and wide. Benson later rifles a one-timer that is blocked before getting to the goal.
20:00: The second period has begun!
FIRST PERIOD
0.0: The Panthers press on the power play but Edmonton does a good job of protecting the house while Koskinen makes two big saves of his own shorthanded. Larsson’s marker sends the Oilers to the second up 1-0.
3:17: Jujhar Khaira gets shoved from behind and falls into Montembeault, getting called for goaltender interference. Florida heads to the man advantage.
4:46: LARSS! Adam Larsson hammers one from the point and it beats Montembeault’s glove. The defender nets his first of the season and first in 59 games while Nugent-Hopkins and Yamamoto get the helpers! The Oilers relentless pressure pays off late in the frame. | EDM 1, FLA 0
5:47: Alex Chiasson busts in on a breakaway and tries to slip the puck 5-hole on keeper Sam Montembeault but the Cats ‘tendy gets into the butterfly position for the stop and whistle.
6:44: The Oilers continue to pressure the Panthers in search of the opening tally. Shots are 7-2 EDM.
8:32: Kailer Yamamoto sends the puck across and Nugent-Hopkins jabs it towards the cage but it goes wide again.
9:52: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins slithers in front of the net and gets a weak but elusive backhander off that goes wide. Benson, Josh Archibald and Riley Sheahan – who’s playing his 500th NHL game – then follow up with a strong shift, mucking the boards and getting pucks to the dangerous areas.

12:56: The Panthers cause all sorts of chaos ahead of Mikko Koskinen’s crease but the Oilers stay tight in the kitchen, escaping the sequence unscathed.
20:00: Tonight’s game has begun! The Oilers are still without the services of Connor McDavid, James Neal, Kris Russell, Joakim Nygard and now Zack Kassian, who is serving a seven-game suspension. Coming in is Tyler Benson.
