1:49: Mikko Koivu skated in and got around Gustavsson’s pokecheck before putting the puck into the net, giving the Wild the win. | MIN 2, EDM 1

2:50: Both teams have chances but neither team is able to get the puck across the line through the first half of overtime.

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: After regulation, shots are 32-28 for the Wild.

3:16: Dubnyk had to be sharp in denying McDavid on a two-on-one where the Oilers captain elected to shoot five-hole.

5:45: Oilers kill off the penalty.

8:08: The Wild come within inches of scoring as Tyler Graovac broke in alone on Gustavsson but the Oilers goaltender stood tall in making the save. Shortly after the play, he was tripped up by Mark Letestu and the result was a Wild power play with shots now 30-26 for the visitors.

13:40: Shots remain even at 26-26 as both teams look to break the deadlock.

20:00: Third period has started. McDavid is back on the Oilers bench.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Shots on goal are even at 23-23 after 40.

1:07: Parise wired a shot from the right circle off the post behind Gustavsson.

3:15: Shots are now 22-19 for the Wild.

6:23: Nate Prosser clears the puck over the glass and gets two for delay of game. Shortly before that, Connor McDavid got pulled off the ice, though the reason at this point is not entirely known.

8:14: Jared Spurgeon gets sent to the box, sending the Oilers on the power play.

11:04: Shots are 19-16 for the Wild near the midway point of period two.

14:34: Lucic gets two minutes for slashing, sending the Wild on the power play for the first time tonight.

15:56: Four minutes into the second, each team has three shots on goal.

20:00: Period two is now underway.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After a late flurry, shot count was 13-12 for the Oilers following the opening frame.

54.9: Charlie Coyle was in the perfect spot for a pass from Nino Niederreiter as he whipped the puck into the yawning cage during a scramble in front of the net. | EDM 1, MIN 1

1:36: Shots are 13-8 for the Oilers. Right off the draw, Kassian and Kurtis Gabriel drop the gloves for a quick bout. It didn’t take long for Kassian to knock the Wild rookie off his feet with a shot to the jaw.

6:14: Penalty is killed but shortly after, Edmonton gets another couple of chances. Kris Russell rattled a shot off the post and Kassian nearly picked up a dangerous rebound in the crease but Dubnyk smothered it.

9:25: A penalty to Jason Pominville resulted in the Oilers getting the game’s first man advantage for either side.

11:16: Offsetting slashing minors to Kassian and Chris Stewart resulted in the two teams playing four-on-four.

11:37: Near the midway point of period one, shots on goal were 8-6 for the Oilers.

13:48: Kassian nearly makes it 2-0 but was denied by Dubnyk on his first attempt and again on his wraparound try.

17:04: The Oilers got on the board early. Mark Fayne’s shot from the point was stopped by Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk but Patrick Maroon was right on the doorstep to put the rebound in past an outstretched Dubnyk. | EDM 1, MIN 0
