15:15: McDavid dashes for the net, gaining position on Filip Hronek but Bernier sticks with the Oilers Captain to suppress his attempt.

7:38: BEAR! Ethan Bear fakes the slapper then shakes the forward in front, throwing a seeing-eye shot on that eludes Bernier. He now has two goals on the season, while Draisaitl and Nurse get the apples. | EDM 2, DET 0
9:14: Edmonton is dominating the shot count, peppering Bernier with 25 to Detroit’s 16.

12:49: Koskinen kicks aside Anthony Mantha’s wrist shot from the right side. At the other end, Neal creates a turnover and the second line works the puck around, with Nurse’s rip going up and out of play.
15:41: Nugent-Hopkins flashes some nifty dangles, faking outside then shifting inside on Mike Green then dropping a pass for Neal, whose wrister is gobbled up by Bernier.
18:49: The penalty expires. We’re back at even strength.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: Koskinen makes a late stop on Valtteri Filppula from the right wing to end the frame. Oilers are up in the shot clock 14-13 but both sides have had their chances to light lamp.
1:31: Andreas Athanasiou breaks in all alone with Kris Russell chasing him from behind. He tries to go forehand on Mikko Koskinen but the lanky netminder splits his legs to get a toe on it. Oilers go down a man as a result of a Russell slashing minor on the play.
3:26: Tomas Jurco steals the puck behind Detroit’s goal-line, C-cuts to the net and tries to snipe far side but gets stopped.
6:15: Patrick Russell wheels up ice and rips the iron with a whistler.
7:42: The Orange & Blue continue to buzz around the net, outshooting the Wings 9-6. The best chance came when Josh Archibald accidentally blocked Matt Benning’s point shot but backhanded the floating puck, which went wide of the cage.
11:32: Brandon Manning, who scored last game, zips down the wing and loads up a slap shot that Jonathan Bernier squeezes tight.
14:38: The Oilers top unit displays some crisp and crafty passing, leading to a doorstep post by Neal. Edmonton is 0-for-1 on the PP so far tonight.
16:54: Neal gets hooked within the Red Wings’ zone by Jacob de la Rose for the first penalty of the evening.
18:55: The Oilers get the game’s first two shots on goal, courtesy of Alex Chiasson, James Neal and the second line.
