12:37: Oilers get close to scoring again, with McLeod hitting the post after being gifted a breakaway after some nice puck sharing from Benson and Bouchard.

16:03: PATRICK PERFECT! The Jurco-Marody-Russell line strikes again as the three facilitate a great passing play. Jurco dished to Marody in the low circle and Marody gave it to Russell in the slot, who went blocker side on Demko. All three skaters have two points on the night. | EDM 2, VAN 1

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Jurco’s tally evens things up after 40. Shots are 27-15 Oilers.

3:40: STARRETT AGAIN! The goaltender robs Tanner Pearson’s backhand attempt on a partial break.

4:00: Jurco nearly duplicates his first goal after Russell put the puck on net and the rebound found its way onto Jurco’s blade.

6:52: HERE JURCO! Marody throws the puck at the side of the net and Tomas Jurco swipes at the rebound to beat Demko. Russell nets the secondary assist as the Oilers tie it up. | EDM 1, VAN 1

8:12: The Oilers prospects orchestrate some nice passing, as Ryan McLeod fed Tyler Benson then he linked the puck to Samorukov, who tried to connect with Hebig on the doorstep. The final pass gets tipped away from danger.

11:54: Cooper Marody looks for Nurse heading to the net but the defenceman doesn’t get enough lumber on the puck.

14:44: SHINE STARRETT! The Oilers keeper plays light-out on the kill, stopping Michael Ferland’s tip, Elias Pettersson’s one-timer, a second whack from Ferland then Reid Boucher’s point-blank snap shot.

16:55: Russell gets two minutes in the sin bin for hooking Tyler Graovac. Oilers to the kill for the second time tonight.

18:53: Cave dishes a drop-pass to Darnell Nurse in the slot but he whiffs the shot.

20:00: The second period has begun!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Oilers outshoot and out-chance the Canucks in the opening 20 but trail due to Sutter’s penalty shot. Shots are 14-4 Oilers.

3:41: Evan Bouchard misses a pass on the blueline that Brandon Sutter picks up for a breakaway. While on the break, Sutter gets hooked by Samorukov to warrant a penalty shot. On the penalty shot, the centre outwaits Starrett with his backhand to score. | VAN 1, EDM 0

6:24: Ethan Bear skates the puck out of the Oilers zone then leads the rush, rifling one from the high slot but being stopped by Demko. Shots are 9-3 Edmonton.

8:15: Dmitri Samorukov’s wrist shot dings the iron and bounces out as the Oilers two-man advantage ends.

10:26: Tyler Myers’ clearing attempt goes high and over the glass. He gets called for delay of game, giving the Oilers a 5-on-3 for 1:15.

11:11: Vincent Arseneau gets called for holding Tomas Jurco. Oilers to the PP.

13:50: Shane Starrett gets his first feel for rubber, eating Alex Edler’s wrister from the point.

14:29: Cameron Hebig gets his stick up on Quinn Hughes then gets called for high-sticking. This one is just a minor.

16:16: Patrick Russell shovels the puck on net and Colby Cave digs for the rebound but netminder Thatcher Demko covers it up.
