THIRD PERIOD

0.0: The lights go off on The After Party, as Bakersfield lose out in the AHL Pacific Division Final four games to two with a 6-2 defeat in Game 6. A hard-fought series ends with the handshake at centre ice. 

1:59: Empty netter for San Diego seals it. | SD 6, BAK 2

2:31: Bouchard gets called for a trip as the Gulls attack the empty net. That should do it.

2:42: The Condors have a power play with less than three minutes remaining, down three goals.

6:35: Malone to the box. Holding. The job gets even tougher.

10:20: Condors head to the power play, in need of a spark.

10:35: Starrett absorbs Welinski’s blast. We’re getting close to entering the final 10 minutes of Game 6.

13:41: A ruck forms in the Condors corner for close to 20 seconds, and minors get handed out at the end of it to Jake Kulevich and Sam Steel. We’ll play 4-on-4 for two minutes.

14:56: Woodcroft elects to go with a different look on the first line, swapping Patrick Russell with McLeod. Keegan Lowe has also been ruled out for the rest of the game for Bakersfield.

15:44: Starrett denies Kiefer Sherwood on the breakaway with the glove to keep the Condors in this one, but they’ll need to make it count at the other end.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Condors will have to find three goals in the final 20 minutes with their season on the line, trailing 5-2 after two periods.

8:25: STARRETT! The keeper fumbles a clear but recovers in time to stone Sam Steel’s wraparound.

9:20: Condors to the PP after Russell takes a slash.

10:25: The puck bounces around the Condors goalmouth and Comtois pounces left of goal to restore San Diego’s lead to two. | SD 4, BAK 2

14:46: BOUUUUUUCHHHH! You have to give credit to McLeod, who dangled past two Gulls in the neutral zone and dished to Gambardella before the rookie defenceman placed an accurate wrister on the left side of Glass to cut San Diego’s lead to one. Second point for Bouchard tonight. | SD 3, BAK 2

18:56: Condors are going to have to kill a 5-on-3 for 39 seconds after Keegan Lowe takes a hooking call.

20:00: The second period begins.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Bakersfield outshoots San Diego 9-8 in the opening 20 minutes and trail 3-1 with 1:43 left to kill following the intermission.

17.9: Gambardella with a great opportunity to cut the lead to one that’s stopped, then Jones heads back to the box seconds later thanks to an elbowing call.

2:27: A perfect shot by Kossila from a tight angle doubles San Diego’s advantage and the forward’s total for the night. Skinner makes way for Shane Starrett in goal – the third time this series the Gulls have chased Bakersfield’s starting netminder. | SD 3, BAK 1

4:00: Lagesson gets his hands up accepting a San Diego hit and takes a roughing call. Gulls to the power play with four to go in this opening period.

7:00: Caleb Jones shows great patience dropping low into the Gulls zone and delivering a perfect pass to Ryan McLeod that’s pushed away by Jeff Glass.

10:00: Kalle Kossila puts the Gulls back ahead, walking in with space and wiring one over the shoulder of Skinner. | SD 2, BAK 1

14:46: BUGSY! Brad Malone continues to produce for the Condors in the playoffs, notching his fifth goal and 13th point of the Calder Cup Playoffs after Bouchard’s point shot deflects off Benson and falls kindly for Malone to put home. | BAK 1, SD 1

15:12: Evan Polei gets held on a partial break coming into the Gulls zone and the Condors will head to the power play with a chance to equalize this game.

19:14: It’s an early advantage for the Gulls. Chase De Leo beats Stuart Skinner five-hole from the right of the Condors netminder 46 seconds into the contest. | SD 1, BAK 0

20:00: Puck is dropped and the game is on!

It’s do or die for the Bakersfield Condors, down 3-2 in the Pacific Division Final against the San Diego Gulls heading into Game 6 after extending their playoff lives with a double-OT win two nights ago at Rabobank Arena.

Head Coach Jay Woodcroft goes back to Stuart Skinner in goal, and Logan Day starts at forward again on the fourth line with Nolan Vesey and Mitch Callahan. Ryan McLeod centres Tyler Benson and Josh Currie on the second unit.
