20:00: We go to overtime for the second time this series with shots 35-28 in favour of the Condors and momentum on their side after Benson’s first AHL playoff goal.

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: We are bound for overtime! Benson’s late tying goal, the first extra-attacker goal for the Condors this season, means we’ll go until someone ends it.

10.5: TIE GAME! UNBELIEVABLE! The puck is thrown on goal with six men on the ice for Bakersfield and Benson gets the final touch in front as it slides through Glass’ five hole! Malone and Gambardella with the assists and we’re knotted at six. | BAK 6, SD 6

30.6: Glove save by Glass on the open look for Logan Day.

1:09: With an offensive-zone draw, the Condors call a time out and pull the goalie. But it’ll only be 5-on-5 due to Malone’s earlier infraction.

2:42: The job gets tougher for Bakersfield, as they’ll have to kill off a Malone hooking penalty in the final minutes of this game.

3:41: Condors pounding men forward in search of a late equalizer.

9:00: THE FIGHTBACK IS ON! Brad Malone gets into a good area in front and deflects Keegan Lowe’s net-bound shot from along the half boards. Evan Bouchard with the secondary helper. The Gulls lead is down to one as we enter the final 10 minutes of Game 3. | SD 6, BAK 5

10:46: Bear’s involved in a collision behind the Condors goal and skates off clutching his shoulder.

12:49: It’s 6-4 Gulls as Sam Steel taps home his fourth of the playoffs after Sherwood made a strong pass from the right corner to the front of goal. | SD 6, BAK 4

15:41: Bouchard steps into one and breaks his lumber on a good look from the point. Condors still trailing here five minutes into the final period.

19:26: Just 34 seconds in, San Diego have the lead again after Corey Tropp was left alone and was able to slide a backhand under the sprawled-out Stuart Skinner. | SD 5, BAK 4

20:00: The final 20 minutes of Game 3 here in San Diego is underway, where we’re deadlocked at four.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: An action-packed second period sees the Gulls and Condors rack up five goals and split a 4-4 scoreline heading into the third.

3:49: Condors back on the PP with Corey Tropp in the box to serve a bench minor for too many men on the ice.

5:59: GAMBO HAT TRICK! What a time for the Condors to break into this series with the man advantage, as Bakersfield ties the game with their first power-play goal after Gambardella was able to clean up the trash to the left of goal when the puck popped out following a scramble in front. | BAK 4, SD 4

7:12: Condors will get their first chance with the power play after Stanton is brought down by Sam Carrick of the face off. Bakersfield is 0-for-4 with the man advantage so far this series.

11:50: It’s three goals for the Gulls in three minutes to take the lead, with Andy Welinski blasting home the go-ahead goal on the power play from the point. Stuart Skinner relieves Shane Starrett. | SD 4, BAK 3

12:46: Condors counter the other way with numbers shorthanded and Stanton hits the crossbar! A pretty busy two minutes here at Pechanga Arena.

13:38: Caleb Jones is heading to the box for slashing, giving San Diego their third opportunity of the night with the man advantage.

14:44: Only 11 seconds after cutting into Bakersfield’s lead, it’s tied. Kiefer Sherwood scores unassisted. | BAK 3, SD 3

14:55: Just as the penalty to Bouch is expiring, Kalle Kossila is able to walk in and wrist it low glove with Starrett screened in front. | BAK 3, SD 2

16:35: Evan Bouchard takes down a Gulls player on the backcheck and takes an interference call.

18:56: WHAT A BLAST! Ethan Bear wires one from the top of the circle after Currie button hooks and dishes to the Bear to roar a slap shot just over a minute into the second. Goals in back-to-back games for the blueliner, and the second assist credited to Benson. | BAK 3, SD 1

20:00: The middle frame is underway.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The opening 20 minutes is up with Gambardella putting the Condors leading 2-1 with a pair of goals. Visitors outshooting the Gulls 13-10.

4:05: NO HESITATION! Gambardella roofs his second of the game home only 50 seconds after the Gulls levelled the score to put the Condors back ahead. The Staten Island, New York product walked out from behind the net and lifted a beauty over Glass’ shoulder. | BAK 2, SD 1

4:55: We’re all tied up. Adam Cracknell is the beneficiary of a toss in front from the corner by Jacob Larsson, whose pass goes through the crease and falls kindly to Cracknell to fire his fourth goal of the playoffs home. | BAK 1, SD 1

8:44: The penalty expires and Currie goes in alone after picking up the puck with speed in the neutral zone, but Glass shows patience in the butterfly and outwaits his dangle.

10:53: Max Jones goes hard to the net and Keegan Lowe’s stick rides up high for the high-sticking infraction. The first powerplay goes the way of the Gulls.

14:32: CONDORS GOAL! Gambardella takes the cross-ice feed from Malone and beats Jeff Glass high blocker for his second goal of the series. Chalk the second helper up for Keegan Lowe. | BAK 1, SD 0

18:47: Starrett with a big glove save on a Gulls 2-on-1 early. Action going both ways here in the opening minutes of this first period.

20:00: The puck is dropped and we’re underway!

Pechanga Arena in San Diego is the sight of tonight’s Game 3 between the Bakersfield Condors and San Diego Gulls, with the home side ahead in the series after taking both openers in Bakersfield.

Shane Starrett will return between the pipes for the Condors after making 53 saves on 56 shots in Game 1, and Ryan McLeod has been elevated to the second line and will centre Tyler Benson and Josh Currie. Braden Christoffer drops out for Logan Day, who’ll be the extra body on defence in an 11-7 forwards/defence approach from Head Coach Jay Woodcroft.
