THIRD PERIOD

0.0: THE AFTER PARTY! The Condors win their first-ever AHL Calder Cup Playoff game, defeating the Colorado Eagles 3-2 to go 1-0 in the best-of-five series.

35.4: Malone just misses the empty net, icing the puck in the process.

47.5: Francouz leaves the net as the Eagles add the extra attacker. Condors continue to hold on.

4:22: Evan Polei crosses the puck over to Gust on the rush, who tries to go to his forehand on Francouz but runs out of real estate. Condors have just over four miles to go in this one.

6:31: Lowe’s penalty expires but A.J. Greer tees one up from the left circle. He fails to crack Starrett, though.

8:41: Captain Lowe is called for tripping, signalling a big penalty kill for the Condors.

10:03: The Eagles test Starrett with another dead angle shot but the keeper fastens his pad and skate to the post and gets the whistle. More rough stuff ensues after the whistle.

13:27: CONDORS REGAIN THE LEAD! Logan Day accepts a beautiful feed from Gambardella and pots it home to give the Condors the go-ahead marker for the third time tonight. | BAK 3, COL 2

14:12: Starrett appears to have the puck covered at the dead angle of the net but the refs decide not to whistle the play, allowing David Warsofsky to punch in the puck. | BAK 2, COL 2

15:55: The Eagles appeared to have tied it up but a Colorado body went flying into Starrett, who had no chance at making a save. The initial decision on the ice was good goal but the call after the review was NO GOAL. Condors maintain their 1-0 lead.

18:18: STARRETT! The netminder stays calm during the Eagles’ arena-wide Minute of Madness, which is when fans in attendance are urged to stand and cheer. The netminder pushed to the top of his crease after a point shot was blocked just prior to the paint then tracked Dries’ ensuing rebound.

20:00: The third frame has begun. The Condors went 34-1-0-1 when leading after 20 in the regular season.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The pace slows considerably in the second, despite both squads scoring. Alt netted the equalizer for Colorado but Lagesson responded with the go-ahead tally. COL led the second-period shot count 4-3 as the Condors look to close it out in Game 1 as the third looms.

1:27: Currie darts inside the offensive zone and releases a backhander at Francouz. The shot is from an odd angle and flies wide, going through the blue paint and to the opposite corner.

5:10: Benson pulls up and flings a shot at Francouz, who thwarts the attempt.

9:25: Shots are tied up at 14-14 at the halfway mark of the second.

13:30: WILD BILL! Lagesson continues to perform from the point, netting a pass from the side of the net to notch his first postseason AHL goal, which comes at 4-on-4. The goal is also his second point of the night. Assists go to Caleb Jones and Russell – who also has two points tonight. | BAK 2, COL 1

14:14: As expected, the rough stuff begins to amp up as Keegan Lowe and Sheldon Dries – among others – mix it up after the whistle. Josh Currie and Martin Kaut are the only players to go to the box. Currie gets two for embellishment and Kaut gets two for tripping.

15:34: Gambardella muscles his way to the front of the net after driving wide but fails to register a shot since a pair of Eagles stay on top of him.

19:05: Mark Alt walks in from the point uncontested and fires a wrist shot that beats Starrett. | BAK 1, COL 1

20:00: The second period has begun with Gust and Scott Kosmachuk, who go to the box for cross-checking and roughing, respectively.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Starrett makes another stellar save, this time on Cody Bass, who tried to deke then go glove side when he found himself facing the keeper all alone within the O-zone. The Condors take a 1-0 lead into the second period – their best stanza all regular season, scoring 108 middle-frame goals.

5:40: Andrew Agozzino takes Lagesson hard into the boards behind the Condors’ net, warranting a penalty. Condors get their first power play of the playoffs.

9:22: Colorado wastes no time in trying to find the equalizer as Starrett makes HUGE breakaway then rebound saves to keep the Condors ahead.

10:43: GO CRAZY CONDORSTOWN! Brad Malone squeaks a shot through Francouz to open the scoring in the series. William Lagesson and Patrick Russell get the helpers. | BAK 1, COL 0

11:48: David Gust finds Cooper Marody on the right wing, and the forward whips a wrist shot that netminder Pavel Francouz gets a piece of. Shots are 7-7 near the midway mark of the frame.

15:19: Starrett pushes out and squeezes tight on Martin Kaut’s in-flight wrister.

16:32: The two sides start out with a back-and-forth beginning. The line of Gambardella-Malone-Russell generate early pressure but can’t find the back of the net. The Eagles go down the other way and send a shot at netminder Shane Starrett, who gets some help from his goal post.
