0.0: The Oilers drop a 6-2 decision to the Avs. The club is back in action Thursday against San Jose at Rogers Place.

6:51: The Oilers lead the shot-count in the third period 12-4.

12:30: Kerfoot thinks he’s scored his second of the night after pushing at the puck and Koskinen’s pad from the side of the net. The refs deem it no goal due to the push but the Avs use their coach’s challenge. They announce it is a good goal. | COL 5, EDM 2

12:50: Leon Draisaitl gets fed near the dot but just misses with his one-timer attempt. The Oilers are still down by two near the halfway mark of the frame.

20:00: The third period has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The Avs reply with a four-goal middle period, skating away with a 4-2 lead.

2:48: shots are 22-15 Colorado late in the second.

7:56: Colin Wilson notches another for the Avs with a backhander from the slot. | COL 4, EDM 2

12:17: The Avs score their third unanswered. Erik Johnson let a shot-pass go, Matt Nieto re-directed it to Kerfoot who put it back. Oilers call a timeout. | COL 3, EDM 2

14:04: Colorado scores exactly one minute later. Barrie’s wrist shot from the right side eluded Koskinen to make it a tie game. | EDM 2, COL 2

15:04: Nathan MacKinnon bypasses a trio of Oilers then goes high glove on Koskinen. | EDM 2, COL 1

15:29: The Oilers neutralize both penalties but Malone played the puck before fully exiting the box, causing another penalty against. Oilers look for another kill.

17:32: OH MY MIKKO! The keeper makes comes up with a save of the year candidate, extending his arm to get a glove on the puck while the net was yawning wide open. Brad Malone later gets called for high-sticking, giving the Avs 10 seconds of 5-on-3 time.

19:22: Kris Russell is called for hooking to give the Avs their first man advantage of the night.

20:00: The second period has begun!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Lucic puts back his sixth of the season, Nurse adds to the lead with his ninth, Nugent-Hopkins bags a pair of helpers and Koskinen makes eight saves as the Oilers lead 2-0 after 20 in Colorado.

2:56: Koskinen keeps the door shut on Alexander Kerfoot, who wacks at the netminder in hopes he squirts the puck out. The Oilers keeper has six saves this period.

With his 1st period goal Darnell Nurse becomes the first Oilers D to register 40 points in a season since both Sheldon Souray and Tom Gilbert had 40+ points in 2008-09

6:59: THE DOC! Darnell Nurse rovers around the offensive zone then banks the puck in off Varlamov’s arm. Nurse continues his career year, scoring his ninth of the season and point No. 40. Sam Gagner gets the primary helper and Nugent-Hopkins nabs his second apple of the night with the secondary. | EDM 2, COL 0 

10:40: LOOOOOCH! Matt Benning fires a point shot and Lucic gets the tip in front, tallying his sixth goal of the year. Benning and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins get the assists as the Oilers open the scoring. | EDM 1, COL 0

13:21: Sam Gagner tries to find a deflection in front, sending the puck through the crease but it just missed Lucic’s skate.

14:52: Tyson Barrie trips up Milan Lucic in the Avs’ corner, causing a tripping penalty to be called against the Avs defender. Oilers go to the power play.

16:21: Josh Currie streaks in and fires a shot at goaltender Semyon Varlamov, with the rebound popping out to Brad Malone, who couldn’t get a piece from the doorstep.

20:00: Tonight’s game has begun!
