0.0: Kassian can’t find the handle on an open net late in the period. The Oilers end the second like they did the first, trailing by one.

7:09: Edmonton kills Nurse’s minor.

10:36: Darnell Nurse is called for interference, giving the Golden Knights their first power play of the match.

11:13: Reaves rovers around the top of the Oilers crease then whips a backhander that goes wide. Shots are 15-11 Vegas.

15:59: POINT 115! McDavid gets the puck in the slot and wires a low wrist shot that stuns netminder Malcolm Subban. That’s the Oilers Captain’s 41st of the season – matching his career high – with the assists going to Kassian and Draisaitl. | VGK 2, EDM 1

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Golden Knights control possession during the Oilers power play, getting a few quality looks at Koskinen. Eakin’s goal stands as the only one in the first, as Edmonton trails 1-0 heading to the second.

2:01: Nosek is called for slashing. Oilers go to the power play.

2:50: With the Colorado Avalanche picking up a point in their match against St. Louis, the Oilers have been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

4:33: Cody Eakin walks in from the wing and releases a wrist shot that beats Koskinen’s blocker side to open the scoring. | VGK 1, EDM 0

5:39: Lots of pucks being thrown at both nets but none can cross the goal-line. Vegas leads Edmonton in the shot department 7-4.

9:29: The two sides trade chances. Vegas’ relentless forecheck got Tomas Nosek a crack at Koskinen from the side of the net. At the other end, Leon Draisaitl just missed Connor McDavid streaking for the goal.

14:16: Brayden McNabb wraps the puck around the net, sending it into the crease but Koskinen covers it up. A scrum involving Ryan Reaves and Zack Kassian ensues after.

18:37: Max Pacioretty barges his way to the Oilers net then tries to flip the puck over Mikko Koskinen’s shoulder to no avail.
