14:29: Milan Lucic is called for roughing, while Garnet Hathaway is called for unsportsmanlike conduct.

16:49: McDavid gets high-sticked by Giordano, causing the Flames captain to go to the box for a high-sticking double minor penalty. Big chance to tie it up for the Oilers on the power play.

19:16: Gaudreau walks in uncontested and slips one 5-hole on Koskinen. Flames open the scoring. | CGY 1, EDM 0

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Alex Chiasson puts the put from his skates to his stick in tight on Rittich but can’t beat him with his ensuing shot. The first period ends a tie game, with Calgary firing 14 shots at Koskinen and Edmonton throwing six at Rittich.

1:10: Koskinen stops Johnny Gaudreau from a tough angle then wraps his glove around his back to keep the puck from squirting in behind him. The refs take a look at a video review and confirm Koskinen kept it out. HUGE save by the Oilers keeper.

3:00: McDavid just misses the mark on a one-timer from the right circle. Oilers get called for too many men, signaling the end of their power play.

4:42: MIKKO! Koskinen robs Sean Monahan from the slot on the penalty kill to keep it scoreless. Mark Giordano takes an unsportsmanlike penalty after the whistle and now the Orange & Blue will get their first man advantage of the night.

6:43: Tobias Rieder feeds Zack Kassian with a perfect aerial pass then Kassian gives it right back to him within the Flames’ zone for a shot at Rittich but it misses the cage. Kassian is later called for boarding. Oilers to the penalty kill for the first time tonight.

8:34: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sifts the puck for Brandon Manning crashing to the net but the defender can’t get a piece of it.

13:59: Connor McDavid peddles up ice and zips a sharp angle wrister at David Rittich.

14:49: Koskinen misplays the puck behind Edmonton’s net but Colby Cave is there for support to help alleviate the danger.

18:14: Matthew Tkachuk floats one through Mikko Koskinen’s crease but nothing comes from it. Fans get loud as they trade team chants.

20:00: The third Battle of Alberta of the season has begun!
