7:42: Calgary looked to have struck for their first of the game when Anthony Peluso redirected a point shot from Alan Quine. The play was challenged for goaltender interference by Peluso in front on Koskinen. After review, it was ruled no goal.

8:00: Shots on goal with eight minutes left in the second period were 7-4 for Calgary; 20-17 Oilers overall in the game.
13:37: Edmonton’s first penalty of the game went to Darnell Nurse.
17:02: Draisaitl missed the net on a wrist shot while skating in alone and was then denied by Rittich on the rebound off the end boards.
19:18: Rittich made an outstanding save on a backhand from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on a breakaway to keep it a one-goal game.

FIRST PERIOD

4:39: Tempers flared after Milan Lucic levelled Travis Hamonic with an open ice check. Lucic dropped the gloves with Calgary’s Anthony Peluso. Lucic got some good shots in but neither combatant went down. Peluso got two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play to give the Oilers another power play.
7:42: CONNOR OPENS THE SCORING! McDavid takes a feed from Alex Chiasson and quickly releases it into the net past Flames netminder David Rittich to make it 1-0 for the Oilers. | EDM 1, CGY 0
