11.2: Oilers drop their second consecutive, losing 6-3 to the Vegas Golden Knights. The club will head out on a three-game Californian road swing beginning Tuesday versus the San Jose Sharks.

4:54: Caggiula gets called for holding.

5:09: Cooper Marody wraps the puck around the net then Patrick Russell crashes the paint for the rebound. Fleury doesn’t budge.

5:56: Shots this period are 9-8 Vegas.

11:23: Talbot eats Ryan Reaves clapper from the wing. Oilers are up 26-23 in shots.

13:22: Fleury fails to cover the puck, allowing McDavid to curl in front of the net with it on his backhand. The net was open but he fanned on his backhander.

16:16: Draisaitl gets one back! The forward drags and snipes short side to score his 12th of the season. Caggiula gets the lone apple, giving him two tonight. | VGK 6, EDM 3

16:56: Rielly Smith notches his fourth of the year from the slot. | VGK 6, EDM 2

19:26: Marchessault redirects a pass from the point in front to notch his second of the night just 34 seconds into the third. | VGK 5, EDM 2

20:00: The third period has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Oilers allow three goals against in the span of 2:12, squandering their 2-1 lead. They head into the the final period down 4-2.

6:13: Caggiula gets a piece of McDavid’s low shot but Fleury stays square to the puck.

9:00: McDavid cuts in on Fleury but runs out of real estate near the net as the netminder sprawls out.

11:27: Pacioretty gets a penalty for hooking McDavid but the Oilers Captain gets called for embellishment.

15:27: Golden Knights strike yet again. That’s three goals in the opening five minutes of the second period. This time, Jonathan Marchessault snipes far side to beat Talbot. This one comes on the power play. | VGK 4, EDM 2

16:07: Vegas scores again, catching a bank off Matt Benning’s skate. Pacioretty is credited with the tally. The visitors take the lead in the second with two goals in one minute and 32 seconds. | VGK 3, EDM 2

17:39: Cody Eakin walks in and beats Talbot blocker side for a shorty. It’s an unassisted marker. EDM 2, VGK 2

19:20: William Carrier drills Nurse into the boards, warranting a boarding penalty. Oilers to the power play.

20:00: The second period has begun.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: McDavid opens the scoring less than a minute in, Karlsson answers for the Golden Knights then Chiasson regains the lead for the home side. Edmonton is up 2-1, leading the shots 10-6 after the opening 20.

1:00: Milan Lucic hammers one from just inside the offensive zone, causing Fleury to look back. He covers it up.

3:27: ALEX IS STILL ON FIRE! Alex Chiasson puts home the garbage in front to score his eighth of the season and second in as many nights. Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins register the assists. | EDM 2, VGK 1

4:16: Brayden McNabb gets called for holding. Oilers look to get to work on the man advantage.

5:52: Forward Patrick Russell, suiting up in his second NHL game, misses the mark all alone in front.

7:03: Shea Theodore’s floater from the blueline gets deflected by William Karlsson, beating Talbot. He had 43 goals last season and that’s his fifth of this year. | EDM 1, VGK 1

8:57: Cam Talbot hasn’t been tested much this evening but he stays sharp to keep Max Pacioretty’s two slams from the side of the cage out.

12:00: Darnell Nurse fakes then walks in from the blueline, snapping one at Fleury but he makes the save. Oilers lead the shots 5-2.

14:56: Kris Russell breaks up a 2-on-1 pass with a sliding effort. The Oilers go the other way and get a shot on net off the rush.

19:08: JUST. LIKE. THAT. Connor McDavid gets a piece of Matt Benning’s point shot with a deft tip, handcuffing Marc-Andre Fleury just 52 seconds in. That’s the Oilers Captain’s 12th of the season. Assists go to Benning and Drake Caggiula. | EDM 1, VGK 0
