8:08: Draisaitl and Yamamoto encroach on a 2-on-1 but Draisaitl’s pass is foiled by a Jets defender. Talbot keeps the door shut at the other end.

9:38: Lucic gets called for charging. Big kill upcoming for the Oilers.

12:15: Yamamoto gets a chance in tight but can’t net the equalizer. Oilers are a new team this period.

17:32: MCDAVID AGAIN! The Captain slams home his second of the night and third point, making this a new game. He has now been in on all eight of his team’s goals to start a season, which sets a new NHL record. Nuge gets the lone assist. | WPG 4, EDM 3

18:19: Andrew Copp is called for holding, giving the Oilers a chance to get within one on the power play.

19:42: OILERS GET ONE EARLY! Just 18 seconds into the period, Rattie scoops up McDavid’s fanned shot and roofs it past Hellebuyck. | WPG 4, EDM 2

20:00: The third period has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The horn sounds to signal the end of the second. Edmonton trails 4-1 after 40. Shots are 25-25.

1:15: Talbot gloves Trouba’s one-timer from the top of the right circle.

2:11: The Oilers top line gets mucky, as Ty Rattie tries to crash home a loose puck within the Jets’ crease to no avail.

6:00: Edmonton is able to thwart the power-play attempt. Following the kill, McLellan throws out RNH-McDavid-Draisaitl but the trio can’t tuck one home.

10:41: Lucic gets his stick up on Chariot. He goes to the box for two minutes. Oilers back on the kill.

12:07: McLellan putting his lines in the blender in an effort to turn the game around. Drake Caggiula is with Leon Draisaitl and Jesse Puljujarvi while Ryan Strome is with Milan Lucic and Kailer Yamamoto.

15:07: Winnipeg sustaining the pace they had early in the first. They’ve outshot the Oilers 4-0 in the second so far.

18:58: Jets score early on the man-advantage. Patrik Laine rips one from the half wall and Mark Scheifele cleans up the garbage. | WPG 4, EDM 1

20:00: The second period has begun.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: A four-goal first period sees the Jets ahead 3-1. Shots are 14-12 Winnipeg, who will start the second period with 1:10 of power-play time.

50.6: Oilers get called for too many men. Jets to the PP. Ty Rattie serving the minor.

1:45: Darnell Nurse’s point shot trickles past Hellebuyck put the keeper lays flat on his back to keep it from going in.

4:07: The Oilers third line continues to click. They show up with another solid shift. Shots are now 12-10 Winnipeg.

6:49: The Jets come right back. Ben Chariot fires a clapper from the blueline that beats Talbot. WPG back up by two. | WPG 3, EDM 1

7:11: MCDAVID! The Oilers Captain skates at Internet speed to give himself a partial break, going backhand on Connor Hellebuyck to get the Oilers on the board. McDavid has now been in on all six Oilers goals this season. | WPG 2, EDM 1

8:10: Edmonton tries to tilt the ice in their favour. The third line produces some pressure and draws a tripping penalty. The Oilers, who are 20 percent on the man-advantage this season, get the first power play of the game.

11:05: Oilers being outshot 9-2 near the midway mark of the period.

12:13: Lowry picks up his own rebound ahead of the Oilers crease and deposits it past Talbot. Winnipeg up by a deuce. | WPG 2, EDM 0

15:09: Winnipeg maintains pressure down low in the Oilers zone and Adam Lowry walks out from the corner and stuffs the puck far side on Talbot. | WPG 1, EDM 0

17:28: Jets come out flying, peppering netminder Cam Talbot with four shots in the first two and a half minutes. He keeps the door shut.
