16:27: Jujhar Khaira dropped the gloves with Kevan Miler for a spirited bout at the Oilers blueline that was eventually broken up by the officials.

16:32: Three-and-a-half minutes into the second period, Boston had three shots to Edmonton’s none.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After one, shots on goal were 15-11 for the Bruins.

2:41: Marchand got in behind the Oilers defence while shorthanded and tried to backhand it past Talbot but the Oilers goaltender got a piece of it. Oscar Klefbom also got a piece of Marchand with his stick and was sent off for slashing, ending the Edmonton man advantage.

3:15: Charlie McAvoy got two minutes for interference, giving the Oilers their first power play chance in the game.

4:47: 36 seconds later, Joakim Nordstrom completed a give-and-go with a redirection past Talbot to extend Boston’s lead to two goals. | BOS 3, EDM 1

6:06: Tempers flare after Khaira bumped Bruins defenceman Brandon Carlo into the end boards deep in the Boston zone. Result was another Bruins power play.

9:57: Shots were 9-5 for the Bruins just past the midway point of the first.

10:40: David Pastrnak picked up the puck and drove to the net, deking out Matt Benning and then Cam Talbot for a beautiful backhand goal to tie the game up at 1-1. | EDM 1, BOS 1

11:48: Adam Larsson got called for interference, giving the game’s first power play to the Bruins.

13:38: Chris Wagner caught Jujhar Khaira with a shoulder to the head, knocking down the Oilers skater. Khaira was tended to briefly on the bench but appeared to be fine.

16:17: CONNOR OPENS THE SCORING! McDavid used his speed to break down the right side, he picked up the puck and went in all alone, firing a shot five-hole past Bruins netminder Jaroslav Halak. | EDM 1, BOS 0
