3:13: Jooris gets two minutes for slashing, sending Edmonton on the PP.

6:51: Carolina makes it 4-1 with 53 seconds left in the Russell minor and 13 left in the five-on-three. Janne Kuokkanen quickly taps a shot home from the slot. | CAR 4, EDM 1

7:58: Kris Russell receives two minutes for tripping, giving the Hurricanes a four-on-three power play for 11 seconds followed by an 80-second long five-on-three.

8:27: Caggiula gets two for slashing, putting and end to the Edmonton power play.

8:51: A giveaway by Talbot during the man advantage led to Carolina’s third goal. Josh Jooris intercepted Talbot’s clearing attempt and he set up Lucas Wallmark who fired it high blocker side. | CAR 3, EDM 1

9:47: Oilers head to the power play after Victor Rask gets two for slashing.

11:33: Oilers get a couple of chances down low with Maroon and Yamamoto buzzing around the Hurricanes net. Shots now 16-9 for Carolina.

1:26: Leon Draisaitl gets two minutes for hooking to send the ‘Canes back on the power play.

2:09: Oilers score on their third shot of the period. Ryan Strome is at the doorstep to put home an Oscar Klefbom rebound to knot the game up at 1-1. | EDM 1, CAR 1

5:22: Hurricanes continue to carry the play, now outshooting the Oilers 12-1.

10:12: Shots are 9-1 for the Hurricanes almost halfway through the first.

13:35: Teravainen rifles a shot under the bar from the high slot, beating Talbot and putting the Hurricanes on the board with a power play goal. | CAR 1, EDM 0

15:49: Shots on goal are 3-0 for the Hurricanes just under five minutes in.

17:11: Carolina takes advantage of a turnover at the Oilers blueline and Teravainen skates in on a two-on-one with Justin Williams. Talbot slides across to make a big stop on Williams.
