3:57: Mark Letestu took a penalty with less than four minutes to go in the third, giving the Flames their best chance by far to tie things up.

17:00: Flames come out flying to start the third, outshooting the Oilers 6-1 over the opening three minutes.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Shots on goal after 40 minutes were 16-12 for Calgary.

4:45: Brossoit comes up big with a series of stops as the Flames start to dial up the pressure. Shots now 15-11 Flames.

7:30: Shots on goal are even at 11-11.

8:03: Braden Christoffer and Ryan Lomberg dropped the gloves at centre ice in a spirited fight that saw neither combatant give much to the other. Result is five minutes in the box for each.

10:20: Alex Chiasson takes a penalty, sending the Oilers back on the man advantage.

10:20: Laurent Brossoit comes in to replace Gustavsson in goal. Gustavsson stopped all 11 shots he faced. Brian Elliott remained in goal for Calgary.

13:30: Gustavsson made a huge stop on Sam Bennett after the Flames forward snuck in behind the Oilers defence. Bennett tried to muscle the puck on goal during his partial breakaway.

16:46: It looked like the Flames had broken the deadlock over three minutes into the middle frame as Troy Brouwer shoveled it past Gustavsson but it was ruled no goal due to goaltender interference (incidental contact – no penalty).
