THIRD PERIOD
GAME 3 VICTORY!!! PLAY LA BAMBA, BABY!!! Mike Smith was a warrior making 31 saves behind a natural hat trick from Evander Kane, four assists from Leon Draisaitl, and three helpers from Connor McDavid as Edmonton takes a 2-1 series lead on home ice. We’ll look to do the same thing with similar desire and ferocity in Game 4 on Tuesday night back here at Rogers Place.
2:16: Another Flames PP coming up. It’s Nugent-Hopkins for hooking. Should expect to see the Calgary net empty here with just over two minutes left.
4:57: Oliver Kylington gets one back for Calgary with a shot top shelf. EDM 4, CGY 1
6:27: Mike Smith returns to the ice to incredible cheers from the Rogers Place crowd. Absolute warrior.
8:47: McDavid get called for hooking to even things up 4-on-4 for two minutes.
11:25: Gutless charge from Milan Lucic on Mike Smith playing the puck leads to a five-minute major and game misconduct. A myriad of coincidentals go along with it. Smith comes out of the game to get looked at in concussion protocol.
15:19: Chants of ‘Smitty’ echo through Rogers Place in appreciation of the Oilers netminder, who’s made a few great saves to begin this period (and all night for that matter).
16:58: Calgary heads to the man advantage with Brett Kulak in the box for crosschecking.
20:00: 20 minutes left to play! The third starts now. Dan Vladar is in net now for the Flames.

SECOND PERIOD
0.0: That was a sensational period of hockey for one-half of Alberta. The Oilers score four — one for Hyman and THREE from Kane — to lead 4-0 through 40 minutes.
7:02: HAT TRICK EVANDER KANE!!! McDavid throws another feed to him in transition and beats Markstrom with a backhand to bring down the hats onto the ice. Draisaitl has helpers on all four Edmonton goals — a playoff NHL record for one period. The vibes are simply unbeatable at Rogers Place right now. EDM 4, CGY 0
9:18: Kane takes a tripping penalty, sending Calgary to the man advantage.
10:18: OH MY WORD!!! Smitty stops Gaudreau on the breakaway then makes a disgusting glove save on the follow-up!

12:09: ANOTHER BEAUTY!!! McDavid spins 180 degrees with the puck at the blueline, avoids pressure from the defence, and sends a backdoor pass to Kane to tap home his second of the game! Edmonton running rampant! EDM 3, CGY 0
13:02: KANE YOU BELIEVE THAT MOVE?! Draisaitl goes around the Calgary defender with a backhand pass and finds Kane coming towards the netfront, where he went backhand-to-forehand to stretch Markstrom out of position and tuck in Edmonton’s second goal. EDM 2, CGY 0
16:08: Back to the PP Edmonton goes! Trevor Lewis interferes with McDavid as he pursued the puck up at the blueline.
19:08: HYMAN SCORES!!! Four seconds after the powerplay expired, Hyman gets on the end of Draisaitl’s touch pass from the slot and sends it far side on Markstrom to open the scoring and give Edmonton a 1-0 lead! The author has goals in all three games this series. McDavid picks up the secondary assist for his 21st point in 10 games this post-season! EDM 1, CGY 0

20:00: The second period is coming up next.
FIRST PERIOD
0.0: Great opening period! Despite no goal to show for it, Edmonton had the upper hand and has a 20-7 shot lead. It’s 0-0 after 20 minutes in this Game 3 of the Battle of Alberta. The Oilers will have 48 seconds of power-play time to play with on the other side.
1:12: Elias Lindholm trips up Draisaitl. A chance for Edmonton to get on the board before the intermission with their second powerplay!
1:29: Oilers and Flames trade chances over a frenetic two minutes. First. McDavid stripped Noah Hanifin of the puck on a waved-off icing for an open look that went wide before Gaudreau put a pass into the slot over the net from close range.
5:11: Smith flashes the right pad on Andrew Mangiapane after the Flames forward got through and went in alone!
6:53: After a goalless first Oilers PP, the Flames will get their first chance after Leon Draisaitl hooked Johnny Gaudreau.
9:25: Sheer tenacity from Josh Archibald draws Trevor Lewis into a hooking penalty in the neutral zone. The Oilers have been on the front foot in the opening 10 minutes plus change, and now have the first opportunity on the powerplay!
11:45: SO CLOSE!!! Kulak’s slapshot off the draw trickles under his arm before striking the post and falling dead in the crease!
15:14: The Oilers second line owns a big spell of possession in the offensive zone, forcing Jacob Markstrom into three stops.

20:00: GAME ON!!! The energy in Rogers Place is reaching unseen levels.
