THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Wild game doesn’t go in Edmonton’s favour. After the Oilers struck twice in 43 seconds to take the lead, the Stars added two in 24 seconds to take a lead that would hold through until the end of the game. The Oilers return to action at home on Wednesday against the San Jose Sharks.

1:38: Oilers pull Koskinen for the extra man.

4:58: Just like that, the Stars have the lead after Seguin slid a backhand across to Gurianov at hte back post on a 2-on-1. | DAL 4, EDM 3

5:22: Roope Hintz burns through the neutral zone, beats the defence, and slides the tying goal five-hole under Koskinen. | EDM 3, DAL 3

5:54: MASSIVE MIKKO!!! He finds the puck with a scramble in front of him and squeezes it under the right arm. Critical stop!

6:24: Stars kill it off.

8:24: Puljujarvi is tripped behind the net by Tyler Seguin, so the Oilers head back to the powerplay. It hasn’t clicked tonight yet after two earlier opportunities.

13:00: OH MY WORD!!! The Oilers have flipped the script!!! Devin Shore got it up at the blueline from Draisaitl after exiting the box, and Shore threw it back across and saw the puck deflect off Draisaitl’s leg and into the net for the go-ahead goal. Two goals on 43 seconds have the Oilers back in front.

13:46: SHORTHANDED OILERS GOAL!!! What a play by McDavid to set up Kane! McDavid had speed after a broken play at the Oilers blueline and burned a Dallas defender wide, but after failing to get a shot off, he quickly fed it to an approaching Kane who fired it far side on Oettinger. A big, big, BIG goal to tie things up. | EDM 2, DAL 2

15:13: Devin Shore trips up Pavelski as he came beaming through the neutral zone to earn two minutes in the box.

20:00: The final period is on! Oilers are in need of a goal and begin the frame on the powerplay.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Dallas forges ahead in that second period with two goals to lead by one. The Oilers will have 1:08 of power-play time to deal with on the other side of the intermission.

52.7: Klingberg with a big hook on McDavid to earn the Dallas blueliner two minutes.

3:59: Great tip by Derek Ryan, but a good reactionary glove from Oettinger.

7:47: Kassian is heading to the box for interference after coming through on a Dallas defender after the puck had gone. Oilers not doing themselves any favours after that good start here in the second period.

9:42: Russell coughs it up at the blueline but Koskinen bails him out with a breakaway save on Benn.

12:03: Joe Pavelski taps one in after it went high off a shot from Klingberg. | DAL 2, EDM 1

12:19: Retaliatory penalty from Darnell Nurse for interference after Puljujarvi was hit hard in the Dallas zone.

13:23: Jason Robertson manages to slide one through the five-hole of Koskinen after Jamie Benn fed him from the left side coming into Edmonton’s zone. Tie game. | EDM 1, DAL 1

14:01: BUGSY OFF THE BAR!!! What a shot from Brad Malone!

16:38: Kris Russell of all players goes on a marauding run up ice and draws a hooking penalty. He’s had a great few games since coming back from injury.

20:00: The second period has BEGUN!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Oilers lead by a goal thanks to that Yamamoto deflection on a blast from Bouchard. The Oilers are 21-0-0 this season when scoring first, the only team in the NHL to do that.

3:29: BUST OUT THE YAMS!!! Kailer Yamamoto gets a twig in the slot to a bomb from Evan Bouchard for his 17th of the season and sixth goal in seven games! McDavid gets the secondary helper and Edmonton opens the scoring. |  EDM 1, DAL 0

5:50: Oilers kill off their first penalty.

7:50: John Klingberg trips on Duncan Keith’s stick and the referee makes the tripping call.

10:24: Another great stop from Oettinger, this time on Jesse Puljujarvi after Zach Hyman fed him with a cross-ice feed.

12:01: Warren Foegele comes down the left side 1-on-1 with Jake Oettinger and forces the Dallas netminder into a pad stop.

13:44: OFF THE POST!!! Evander Kane has to wait to send it around a laid-out Dallas defender to Yamamoto streaking in,but he strikes iron as the puck comes out the other direction. Best chance of the game early in this one.

14:56: A few broken plays and fumbled pucks from both sides through the first five minutes as they work themselves into the game.
