THIRD PERIOD

0.0: GAME OVER!!! It wasn’t a pretty finish, but the Oilers pull through. Warren Foegele’s goal will go down as the game-winner in what was a very up-and-down contest after the Oilers led 4-1 but relinquished their lead. Nonetheless, it’s three-straight wins and two big points for the Oilers as they head into Thursday’s match against the Buffalo Sabres here again at Rogers Place.

5:45: IT FINDS ITS WAY IN!!! Warren Foegele spins around and sends it on net and it takes a deflection off Staal and sneaks through Nedeljkovic’s five-hole. Josh Archibald picks up an assist for his first point since returning to the Oilers. | EDM 6, DET 5

4:39: BIG glove save by Koskinen on Staal, who already has a goal for Detroit. For all that dominance early by the Oilers, the Red Wings have now surpassed them in offensive-zone ice time with 4 minutes 1 second to Edmonton’s 3 minutes 51 seconds.

15:25: HYMAN HITS TWENTY!!! Detroit? More like THREE-troit, and the Oilers are off to a flier. Zach Hyman comes through the danger area and backhands goal #20 on the season in to make it a three-goal Oilers lead. He needs one more marker to match his career-high of 21 in ’18-19 and ’20-21 with the Maple Leafs. Thomas Greiss is being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic in the Detroit goal.
