THIRD PERIOD
0.0: The Oilers regular season concludes with a 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The real games begin on Wednesday when the puck drops for Game 1 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs versus the Winnipeg Jets.
6:33: Vancouver adds another to pad the lead as Highmore’s backhander trickles through Koskinen. | VAN 4, EDM 1
8:22: Nugent-Hopkins goes cross-ice to Kahun and his shot is sent off the glass and out.
10:31: Travis Boyd follows up Highmore’s marker with a top-shelf snipe of his own 16 seconds later, giving the Canucks a two-goal lead. | VAN 3, EDM 1
10:47: Matthew Highmore goes high glove to give the visiting Canucks a late one-goal advantage. | VAN 2, EDM 1
14:24: McDavid attacks on a breakaway, trying to lift the puck over Demko’s blocker but the puck-stopper gets a piece of it.
18:25: The Oilers work it around until the puck goes to Nugent-Hopkins in the slot. His one-timer is swallowed by Demko, who now has 28 saves – many of them top quality.
20:00: The third period begins with the Oilers on the power play!

0.0: Edmonton gets oh so close to scoring late but can’t find twine. They’ll have 1:36 of power-play time to begin the third period.
24.8: OILERS ONSLAUGHT! The Orange & Blue get chance after chance after CHANCE on the power play but are robbed by Demko and his defence.
6:14: Nygard wins a puck battle against Zack MacEwan and the Canucks forward swipes him down in frustration. MacEwan will head off for tripping.
13:09: The Canucks assert pressure, activating their points and tossing pucks on net in search of the loose change. Koskinen holds the door shut, however.
16:44: Darnell Nurse walks down from the line, throws a wrister on net and Haas shovels for the rebound unsuccessfully.
18:33: The Canucks get an odd-man break shorthanded and Bo Horvat makes it count, putting back Pearson’s cross-crease feed. | EDM 1, VAN 1
18:48: J.T. Miller tries to disrupt Jesse Puljujarvi while he’s peddling up ice, taking a holding minor.

16:28: James Neal gets his blade caught in Travis Boyd’s feet, warranting another tripping minor.
16:37: The Oilers get two Grade-A shorthanded scoring chances, the first coming from Koekkoek’s doorstep attempt and the second being a Leon Draisaitl breakaway. Thatcher Demko denies both.
19:36: Tanner Pearson slices to the net and flicks a shot on goal while falling. Dmitry Kulikov is called for tripping on the play. Vancouver gets the game’s first power play.
20:00: Tonight’s game has begun! Slater Koekkoek slots in on the blueline for the first time since Feb. 20, when he sustained a collarbone injury and Evan Bouchard will also be an extra defender.
