THIRD PERIOD
0.0: BIG WIN! McDavid tallies a four-point night, Draisaitl becomes the all-time leader in NHL scoring by a German skater with two points and Smith stops 36 shots to put the Oilers second in the North Division! The two sides will go back at it again on Wednesday to complete the season series.
3:47: Smith battles through Jansen Harkin’s screen to glove down a shot from outside. A scrum ensues after as several Oilers did not like Harkins getting too close to the Oilers puck-stopper.
5:20: Devin Shore releases a one-timer from a sharp angle and Brossoit holds on for the whistle. If the Oilers can hang on for the win, they will leapfrog the Jets for second in the North Division.
9:30: McLeod and Kulikov appear to be fitting in just fine in their Oilers debuts. McLeod has one shot on goal in 10:44 of ice time and Kulikov is plus-two while playing a steady, shutdown role.
14:34: Smith kicks away Pierre-Luc Dubois’ wrist shot off the rush for his 28th save of the evening.
20:00: The third period is under way as the Oilers look to close this one out. Laurent Brossoit spells Hellebuyck in net for the Jets.
SECOND PERIOD
0.0: The Oilers score four goals in the second period and give up just one against to take a 6-1 lead into the final 20 minutes of play. McDavid is up to four points tonight with a hat trick and helper, while Smith has 26 saves.

17:18: Kailer Yamamoto pumps a shot from the slot on Hellebuyck and Draisaitl tries to put back the rebound from the goal-line but catches a piece of the post.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: The Oilers strike twice in the final five minutes of the first to take a two-goal lead into the middle period. Smith stops all 12 shots he faced.

8:57: McLeod takes a big hit along the boards then pops right back up to begin the breakout but gets brought down in the process, drawing a tripping minor against Derek Forbort. Edmonton heads to the man advantage.
11:08: The Oilers do a good job of limiting the Jets on the power play and get some luck when Mark Scheifele’s sizzling one-timer misses the cage.
16:53: EARLY CHAOS! The Oilers and Jets trade chance after chance in the opening few minutes as Connor Hellebuyck stops Connor McDavid on the rush then Mike Smith denies Neal Pionk’s slap shot at the other end. Darnell Nurse later takes a minor penalty and the Oilers go shorthanded. The Jets are without some firepower tonight, missing 21-goal scorer Nikaloj Ehlers and power forward Adam Lowry.
