18.7: SO CLOSE! The Oilers cause all sorts of chaos in front of Demko but he keeps the puck out.
1:01: Draisaitl whips a one-timer but Demko makes the chest save as the Oilers pull Koskinen for the extra attacker to cause a 6-on-4 advantage.
2:30: Pearson gets his stick up on Tyson Barrie for a high-sticking minor. Huge power play for the Oilers upcoming.
3:12: Hoglander gets a good chance in front of Koskinen but doesn’t convert. Edmonton looks for a late-game push.
8:07: Shots are 9-4 Vancouver in the 3rd as the Oilers look for the equalizer again.

7:01: A number of bodies battle in the Oilers crease and the puck trickles in. Vancouver breaks the deadlock with a garbage goal as Bo Horvat gets credit. | VAN 1, EDM 0
8:00: McDavid kisses the iron with a howitzer from the right circle but the Oilers fail to break the goose egg on the power play. Tyler Ennis will sit two minutes for tripping, sending the Canucks to the man advantage again.
11:13: Nils Hoglander gets tangled up with Ethan Bear as he tries to breakout, warranting a holding minor against the Canucks forward. Edmonton goes to the power play for the first time.
13:37: Jujhar Khaira, Patrick Russell and Devin Shore administer some strong forechecking but can’t put home Caleb Jones’ net-front feed.
15:53: J.T. Miller blasts the puck off the outside of the post for the Canucks’ most dangerous attempt on the man advantage.
17:54: Vancouver goes to the power play as Jesse Puljujärvi heads off for slashing.
19:13: Draisaitl tries to go across to McDavid on a 2-on-1 but the pass is disrupted.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: The Oilers out-shoot the Canucks 13-4 in the opening 20 minutes of play but neither side can light the lamp.
1:08: McDavid rushes in, makes it look as though he’s going to drop to Draisaitl but spins a backhander on instead. Demko makes the glove grab.
5:07: The Oilers are in charge on the shot count with 10 while limiting Vancouver to two.
6:10: Patrick Russell puts a shot 5-hole on Demko off a great setup by Draisaitl but nothing gives.
9:03: Connor McDavid makes a move towards Vancouver’s goal then tries to bank the puck in from behind Demko to no avail.
10:25: Canucks forward Jake Virtanen sends a soft backhander and Koskinen then heads to the net, nearly getting a lucky bounce off his skate to go in but it hits the post.
13:47: Adam Larsson directs the puck on net and Leon Draisaitl tips it but Demko is there for the stop.
16:21: The puck bounces about but the Oilers orchestrate a nice passing play in Vancouver’s zone to give Kailer Yamamoto a great in-tight opportunity. Canucks keeper Thatcher Demko uses his big frame to make the save.
