0.0: More fireworks pop in the second as McDavid completes the natural hat trick and Nugent-Hopkins spots the Oilers sixth goal with his ninth of the year. It’s all Oilers in the third chapter of the BoA as the club has scored six goals on just 18 shots. Koskinen has 32 saves.

36.9: Edmonton avoids any trouble on the PK.

4:00: Russell gets his stick up and takes a high-sticking minor.

4:11: Edmonton kills Khaira’s minor to go 2-for-3 on the PK tonight.

14:50: Koskinen stays calm and composed while the Flames storm the crease and try to jam down the door. He has 25 saves on the night.

18:54: MCDAVID… AGAIN! No. 97 steals the puck in the neutral zone then stops up and whips a wrister 5-hole on Markstrom. FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Battle of Alberta is lively tonight as the first period sees four goals and a scrap. Shots are 19-10 CGY but they trail 3-1 heading into the 2nd.

2:49: McDEFLECTION! Barrie lets it fly from the point and McDavid gets a piece of it to beat Jacob Markstrom. That’s goal No. 10 for the captain while the assists go to Barrie and Nugent-Hopkins. Oilers are 2-for-2 on the power play and McDavid has factored into every Edmonton goal tonight. | EDM 3, CGY 1

3:05: Mikael Backlund gets his arms around Gaëtan Haas’ neck and hauls him down. He’ll give the Oilers a power play for taking a holding minor.

5:51: Word comes down that Koekkoek will not be returning to game action tonight after the high hit from Bennett.

8:45: Juuso Valimaki walks in and releases a wrist shot that Koskinen handles with ease. Shots are 11-5 Calgary following their two straight power plays.

12:06: The Flames score but Koskinen is pushed into the back of the net, unable to make the save. The Oilers challenge the play for goaltender interference. The goal stands and the Oilers are given a delay of game penalty. Andrew Mangiapane is credited with the marker. | EDM 2, CGY 1

13:01: Draisaitl is whistled for interference. Edmonton goes to the penalty kill for the first time tonight. They’ll look to kill Calgary’s road power play, which is scoring at just 12.1 percent this season.

14:19: NUUUUUGE! McDavid finds Ryan Nugent-Hopkins all alone at the side of the cage and he goes top shelf to put the Oilers ahead by a pair not even halfway through the opening period. RNH has eight goals on the season now while McDavid has his second assist and 34th point. | EDM 2, CGY 0

16:29: Jujhar Khaira and Bennette trade words before a faceoff then decide to dance. Both players get five for fighting.

16:31: CHIASSER! Connor McDavid rings around the perimeter then places the puck on Alex Chiasson’s blade for an easy tap-in goal. this one comes on the power play as the Oilers gain the early lead for the second consecutive game. That’s Chiasson’s third of the year with the assists going to McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who did not register a point last night. | EDM 1, CGY 0

18:14: Slater Koekkoek is blindsided by Sam Bennett in the neutral zone. Koekkoek stays on the ice then goes immediately to the Oilers Dressing Room. Bennett gets two minutes for interference.

18:28: The Oilers jump out the gate with early pressure. The club works it around until Tyson Barrie is teed up for the one-timer that goes wide.

20:00: The Battle of Alberta has begun! The Oilers roll with the same lineup as Friday, with one minor change coming as Tyler Ennis and Dominik Kahun switch lines on the left side. Mikko Koskinen gets the nod in goal!
