1:53: James Neal checks Nash and ends up getting his stick high for a penalty.

3:35: THE CAP’N! McDavid tucks home his 33rd of the season off a cheeky heads-up pass from Zack Kassian. The Oilers jump out to a big three-goal lead with two goals 56 seconds apart. | EDM 3, CBJ 0

4:31: MR. JONES! The defender tosses a point shot at the net and it skips past Korpisalo. He now has four goals and nine points on the season. Chiasson gets his second point of the night with a helper. | EDM 2, CBJ 0

5:36: Koskinen gets some help from the post after Bemstrom found himself in front all alone and with the keeper out of position.

9:53: HOLD THE DOOR! Koskinen thwarts Zach Werenski not once but TWICE on the doorstep. The guardian is up to 39(!) saves!

11:56: Draisaitl, Yamamoto and Ennis follow up their previous shift with another strong lap, circling the zone and filtering pucks to the net.

13:02: Draisaitl goes for a skate, dangling through the neutral zone then uncorking a mean slap shot that pops off the end boards and trickles back to the net. The Deutschland Dangler later finds Ennis in the slot but the Edmonton product’s wrister is gobbled up.

15:47: The Blue Jackets get in on the attack, sustaining pressure in Edmonton’s zone for an extended period. Koskinen, who now has 34 saves on the evening, stopped Dubois’ tip attempt to keep the Oilers lead alive.

20:00: The puck has been dropped for the 3rd!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: A scoreless 2nd period sees the Oilers take a 1-0 lead into the third, despite being out-shot 30-13.

4:13: Yamamoto gets high-sticked, bringing the forward to his stomach on the ice, but no call comes the Oilers way.

5:11: The Oilers fail to pot a puck on the power play. Shots are 27-12 now in favour of Columbus.

8:54: Dubois gets his knee in Caleb Jones’ tracks, twisting the defender to the ground. Dubois goes off for kneeing, giving the Oilers their first power play.

10:07: The Oilers get another kill, suppressing CBJ’s man advantage.

12:23: Nurse is flagged for roughing. The Oilers go to the PK for the second time tonight.

13:21: Yamamoto centres a pass to the Blue Jackets’ crease but neither Draisaitl nor Ennis can get to it due to a Korpisalo poke check.

16:39: Ennis gets his stick on a point shot for the high slot redirection but Korpisalo stays with the knuckler for the stop.

17:37: Yamamoto is fed in front but can’t get his blade on the puck, missing the shot from a high danger area.

20:00: The second period has begun!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Ennis finds Darnell Nurse for what appeared to be a tap-in but Korpisalo stretched out for a huge blocker save. Shots are 20 are 21-7 CBJ but the Oilers lead 1-0 thanks to Chiasson’s 10th of the season.

2:00: Emil Bemstrom whips a sizzler joints and out.

4:14: More sensational work from Koskinen, who foils Boone Jenner on the doorstep then squeezes his pads together while stick-less after a point shot to get the whistle.

5:34: Pierre-Luc Dubois drives to the net then tries to send a pass across but Adam Larsson sprawls to intercept it.

6:22: The Oilers get held up in their zone but avert any danger as Koskinen is there to bail the squad out. He has 14 saves in the period already.

8:26: MORE MIKKO! The goaltender denies Kevin Stenlund’s one-timer then another two shots to keep the kill intact.

10:00: Khaira gets two minutes for high sticking. Edmonton heads to the penalty kill.

11:17: Ethan Bear tracks down from the point then pulls a toe-drag before putting a shot on net that Korpisalo stops.

15:32: KOSKO! Mikko Koskinen slides across to rob Riley Nash’s backhand attempt. The keeper was lights-out in his last appearance with 42 saves in a 2-1 OT win over Dallas.

16:52: CHIASSER! Alex Chiasson fires an unsuspecting clapper from the top of the right circle and it eludes Joonas Korpisalo for his 10th of the year! Jujhar Khaira and James Neal receive the helpers. | EDM 1, CBJ 0

20:00: Tonight’s game has begun! The Oilers get a big boost to the blueline in the form of a healthy Oscar Klefbom – who was sidelined for nine games – while Coach Dave Tippett decides to mix up his top six, placing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins with Connor McDavid and Zack Kassian. Kailer Yamamoto and Leon Draisaitl will see Tyler Ennis flank their left side.
