13:27: OFF THE JUICE BOX! Ethan Bear pops Dell’s waterbottle lid off with a snipe from the right circle as the Oilers gain some life. Bear nabs his fifth goal of the season and 18th point. | SJ 5, EDM 3

14:55: Meier rips his second of the night bar down as the Sharks go up by three. | SJ 5, EDM 2

17:54: Burns’ shot kicks off the end boards right to Marc-Edouard Vlasic and his quick snapshot is stopped by Koskinen.

20:00: The puck has dropped for the third!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Two Sharks goals courtesy of Letunov – who notched his first career goal in his second career NHL game – and Noesen to take a 4-2 score into the final 20 of play.

2:53: The Oilers carry the play at 4-on-4 but can’t put anything past Dell.

5:23: Klefbom is hauled down by the stick of Patrick Marleau. Marleau gets two for hooking but Klefbom is later called for embellishment. The two sides will play 4-on-4.

7:29: Stefan Noesen gets one to go from a tight angle. The Sharks, now, have the two-goal lead. | SJ 4, EDM 2

8:47: Shots are 24-20 Sharks overall and 9-8 SJ in the second.

12:53: Maxim Letunov sweeps in a rebound to give the Sharks a 3-2 lead. | SJ 3, EDM 2

15:19: Riley Sheahan makes a move to spring himself on a partial break but loses the handle on his backhand.

18:24: San Jose starts right where they left off by mustering pressure in Edmonton’s zone as Koskinen covers up Meier’s sharp-angle shot.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Edmonton goes up by two thanks to Gagner and McDavid but Meier and Kane even things up late. Shots are 15-12 for SJ heading into the second frame.

1:41: Evander Kane catches a piece of Burns’ shot and it squeaks past Koskinen. The Sharks erase Edmonton’s two-goal lead and still have another two minutes on the power play. | EDM 2, SJ 2

3:27: Oscar Klefbom’s stick rides up on a Sharks player to warrant a double minor penalty.

4:37: McDavid catches Dell by surprise but nothing comes from the Oilers man advantage.

6:39: The Oilers get a chance to reply with a power play as Burns goes off for tripping.

8:59: Timo Meier tips Brent Burns’ point shot to put the Sharks on the board. | EDM 2, SJ 1

9:33: KOSSU! The Finnish keeper makes save after save shorthanded to help his Oilers escape Nurse’s minor unscathed.

11:45: The Sharks bite back with some pressure of their own but can’t quantify it with a goal.  During the pressure, Koskinen lost his stick and Nurse tried to throw the goaltender his own, which is a penalty. Nurse will serve two minutes for throwing the stick.

14:40: THE SPEED DEMON! McDavid taps speed burst to blow by everyone then goes roof – like he did in Toronto against the Maple Leafs – on Dell! That’s his 30th goal of the year and 80th point! | EDM 2, SJ 0

15:56: GAGS! Sam Gagner is Johnny on the Spot to put back a net-front rebound for his fourth of the season and 11th point! | EDM 1, SJ 0

17:41: Mikko Koskinen gets his first touch of rubber with a floater from long range. At the other end, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl zing wrist shots at Aaron Dell from the left circle.

20:00: Game On! Hometown boy Tyler Benson will make his National Hockey League debut in front of family and friends. He skated on the fourth line with Gaëtan Haas and Alex Chiasson but is in the starting lineup alongside Connor McDavid and Josh Archibald! William Lagesson draws in for Caleb Jones, meanwhile, on the back end.
