1:00: The Orange & Blue get their chances but can’t convert on the late power play.
4:12: The Oilers get their third consecutive penalty after Ethan Bear was hauled down.
8:12: WELCOME MATT! Benning slices through the O-zone then slips a wrister under Rittich to notch his first of the season! He hasn’t played an NHL game since Dec. 1. This one is TIED UP AGAIN! | EDM 3, CGY 3
12:06: McDavid’s shot from the half-wall misses just wide on the power play. After it expired, Draisaitl dangled his way to the net but was foiled by Rittich. Zac Rinaldo is later guilty of cross-checking to give the Oilers two consecutive man advantages.
16:52: The Flames get caught with too many men on the ice, which means the Oilers will go to the power play!
17:24: Smith’s pass is picked off but the keeper gets back into position to rob Buddy Robinson from the side of the cage.
20:00: The third period is under way!
RNH has points in six straight games for the first time since the fall of 2015. Draisaitl extends his point streak to nine, McDavid to seven.

SECOND PERIOD
0.0: The third period ends with the Oilers trailing by one due to Mangiapane’s second of the night. Shots after 40 are 28-22 EDM.
44.2: Mangiapane scores again, this time by out-waiting Smith on his backhand. Flames go back up. | CGY 3, EDM 2
5:19: TIE GAME! Alex Chiasson punches the puck home from the doorstep to knot it up at 2-2. That’s his seventh of the season with the helpers going to Draisaitl and McDavid. The Dynamic Duo both collect assists No. 50 on the year. | EDM 2, CGY 2
5:52: Mark Giordano goes off for slashing. Edmonton gets its first power play of the evening.
6:55: Andrew Mangiapane roofs one on Smith to regain the lead for the Flames. | CGY 2, EDM 1
13:24: Nugent-Hopkins and Draisaitl check on the status of their sticks by slashing Tkachuk. He responds with a hack of his own. Draisaitl and Tkachuk go to the box as a result. In other news, the Oilers have also announced that Joakim Nygard, who blocked a shot in the final few seconds of the first, is out and won’t return to action tonight.
14:12: YAMOOOO! Kailer Yamamoto deposits a rebound in front to pot the equalizer for the Oilers! He picks up his fourth of the season and seventh point in just his ninth game this year. Nugent-Hopkins and Draisaitl get the helpers! | EDM 1, CGY 1
14:14: The Oilers kill Smith’s delay of game minor.
17:07: Sam Gagner skates in and does a spin-o-rama dangle that gets SO CLOSE to beating Rittich. Should it have gone in, it would have challenged McDavid’s beauty against TOR. Smith later sends the puck out of play and the Oilers go down a man for two minutes.
20:00: The second period has begun!
FIRST PERIOD
0.0: What a period. Lindholm’s lucky bounce puts the Oilers behind early but the main story is the bad blood between the clubs. Shots are 20 minutes are 17-12 Edmonton.
58.8: The two sides resume the act of playing hockey, with Leon Draisaitl getting a point-blank snapshot off on Rittich but the netminder swats it away.
3:25: DING DING! Kassian and Tkachuk finally square off, with the Oilers winger getting the best of his dance partner. Welcome to the Battle of Alberta!
3:49: HUGE NUGE ENERGY! Sean Monahan cross-checks Nugent-Hopkins then drops his glove, forcing a fight with the Oilers forward. He defends himself just fine in the donnybrook. Monahan gets two and five for cross-checking and fighting, while Nugent-Hopkins gets two and five for slashing and fighting.
4:23: The NUGE comes up HUGE! The puck sits on the goal-line and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is on the ball to clear it out of harm’s way before a Calgary Flame can get to it. That prompts an arena-wide ‘Nuuuuuuuge.’
4:46: McDavid cuts through both Flames defenders then tries to beat Rittich on his forehand but the keeper stays with it the whole way.
5:45: Matt Benning, appearing in his first game since Dec. 1, hammers one wide then Kris Russell slams the rebound at Rittich to no avail.
8:05: The hatred continues revving up as Sam Gagner and Jujhar Khaira mix it up with a few Flames after a whistle.
9:16: Kassian and Connor McDavid attack on a 2-on-1, with Kassian deciding to pull up and shoot. He’s stopped by the glove of Rittich.
9:50: Tkachuk zings a one-timer just wide of the post then the Oilers go down the other way and Jujhar Khaira gets a wrist shot off on David Rittich. Shots are 8-6 CGY so far.
16:09: Zack Kassian – who just signed an extension with the Oilers – lines up next to Matthew Tkachuk but the foes decide not to drop the mitts.
18:59: Elias Lindholm slides the puck on net and it tips off Adam Larsson to get past Mike Smith. An unfortunate bounce puts the Oilers back early. | CGY 1, EDM 0
20:00: The Battle of Alberta is under way!
